Few of us spoke about going for a while as the last was was really good! Gave the renny 5 a good wash and swapped the track wheels and for the road wheels.
Me, @Adey and @talkingfish were the first there!
Whipped the bonnet off
Candid…
Loads of folk were being nosey round the 5, tbh they were all talking about the top 3 there all being turborenault cars
Daz’s Clio looking good
Candid Adey
WRS is a good meet and will be going to the next one when it’s at C&M the hill again. @Big Steve - Raider turned up which was a nice surprise and @DaveL485 . Sort but sweet this one and hopefully fit another meet in this year
After a long winter, finally started working on the 5. With me doing more trackdays every year it would be a great idea to fit a cage. Don’t really use the car that often on the road and it’s more or less a track car anyway. Found a Saftey Devices cage on eBay for sale and sent @Ash F4R RT to fetch it
Made a start to strip it out. Didn’t want to go all the way as the cars already light anyway just wanted the cliosport look.
Bought a OMP seat and side mounts. Trial fitted the seat but it was too close to the steering wheel plus the rear bracket hit the seat belt guide.
Milled new slots in the sides mounts
Then chopped down the brackets
And refitted the side mounts
Ordered some mounting brackets from Saftey Devices
Took the paint back to metal for where the mounts are to be welded in
Got a local lad to come weld the mounts in
Fitted the cage shortly after just to make sure it actually fit
Starter to get dark so fitted the seat and harness in the garage
Next day had to finish fitting the cage which was the front cross bar. Noticed the interior light was in the way but I want to keep the interior light so…. Had to chop it down
Bit rough but does the job. Took the car out for a spin and a quick wash
Interior looks good
Will try to tidy up abit more and make it nicer on the eye but for a track car it’s good. Still got more todo before the first track day in May
Spent a small fortune on parts ready for its MOT, service and swap out the burnt front pads and new rear pads. Got PBS prorace pads at a discount… MT-90 wasn’t at a discounted price
Drove it to @Dannyafro for it’s MOT, service and quick once over
Blitz the mot
New calipers on the rear
I’ve had a miss matched petrol cap for years and finally got round to a mate of mine painting it for me. They’re a pain to get off and having to remove the rear wheel to get atand I couldn’t be arsed so I’ve riv-nutted it instead.
Started to prep for a track day at donington and yes I’ve turned into one of those sad cunts
Never really measured my tread depth for tracks days but will definitely need to get some more tyres later in the year or maybe swap to full slicks.
