5 GT Turbo Renny 5 sleeper

These were sent to me from a photographer that I’ve become mates within the past few shows I’ve been to and he’s also been there. On the Sunday at RRW all the people who attended Saturday or camping are allowed to park their cars on the track which I think is pretty cool. Shame I didn’t get there earlier enough to be parked within the main stand/pit straight.

The Drivers Collection - cromford mills.

Continuing with the start of show season, one of the growing shows in the midlands/north of England had finally arrived on my door step and would’ve been rude to have not attended! Before that I’d bought a snow foam pump off eBay as I don’t have a pressure washer yet…IMG_0615.webp
Wasn’t as good as using a proper snow foam gun on the end of a pressure washer but made my pre-washes easier.

The show… cromford mills is a world heritage site as this is were the Industrial Revolution started! Really surprised they hosted a car show here, It’s a beautiful place and it’s good to have it 15mins from my house.

IMG_0653.webp
My 5 got plenty of attention 👀
IMG_0652.webp
Also got papped on the way there aswell IMG_0647.webp
All in all, the show was pretty good. Will be attending their next show up in Sheffield as that is usually the last show for me as it’s in late September.

Thanks for reading,

Mark.

Favourite show of the year RRG!!

Been looking forward to this all year, always a good show that sells out camping and brings the best from all corners with two days of track action. Didn’t really prep the 5 apart from fitting the track wheels/tyres. IMG_1324.webp
We didn’t have a big camp this year just the four of us but no issue as we knew it was going to be a cracker of a weekend. Sold my old GoPro and bought a DJI action 4 as I’ve been told the new GoPro’s just arent reliable enough. IMG_1337.webp
Proper happy with this any could wait to record some track action. IMG_1361.webp
Set camp up as soon as, cracked the beets open and made dinner. IMG_1432.webp
Always steak and potatoes on the first night! 64C6E29F-F91E-4A75-A706-58E752B21F18.webp
Went to the pub, had a pint and did a lap of the track. 047A0ADB-6A9B-4393-9392-B41B3D82668D.webp
Saturday was too, Quick60 was eventful as always. Did rain abit but once the sun came out we drove round the site in my mates pickupIMG_1353.webp
TAT auction was funny as always IMG_1371.webp
Spotted! Quick60 runner up.

Went over to @Paul B camper but he wasn’t in and I don’t know what he looks like so sorry Paul ☹️ we’ll have to chat next time. Did well though mate, well done. Sunday…. Don’t really need to put much context in as you all know it was a good day, the 5 ran like a champ. Shame @Brigsy had issues with his van as that was the only thing that was same pace as the 5. IMG_1384.webp
Tom & Toby’s F7R powered 5 was pretty quick too. IMG_1381.webp
My mates 7 series is always on track! IMG_1388.webpIMG_1389.webpIMG_1428.webpIMG_1391.webp
IMG_1417.webpIMG_1418.webpIMG_1421.webp
Love this picture of me, never really had a candid picture before 😂
IMG_1430.webp
Recorded a really good lap when the track was nearly empty, see what you think but I reckon I nailed these two laps!!

After all the fun ended… me, brigsy and shez had a steady drive back up north. IMG_1399.webp
Was great catching up with you lot, definitely don’t see enough of you guys. I will make more effort to make afew more events from now on if possible

Hi buddy, 5 is properly cool and you look like you had a good laugh on track..
I was there Friday night too,we must have missed each other due to not knowing what we looked like..
I walked the track with a Guinness, was at the tat auction , and also had a wander around so missed you at my camper..gutted and sorry..
What an awesome event though, the rainshower caught me out with no roof and dampers set to hard..full 360 in 3rd was a very calming experience 😀..
Looking forwards for 2025 already

We was routing for ya mate as I know you entered the year before. I don’t know if to enter Quick60 next year or not as afew people mentioned that I should but I don’t know what the rules are regarding catogories or safety devices?

You should most definitely have a go, rules are very sparce.. as long as you have a quietish exhaust,a seat belt and a helmet ..that's safety sorted.
Arms and legs covered and an IOPD liscenece for the day £15 your most likely getting in.
They decide your grouping on a performance factor, engine size, slicks or road legal tyres, roll cage, wings and BHP boosters..
You offer yourself up with your details when they open up the link next year, if they accept you then you pay your money and enjoy..

I’ll see how the car is next year, going to rebuild the engine this winter as it’s probably on +170k now and drinks oil likes it’s going out of fashion. Thanks for the info though mate, I’ll definitely give it some thought

Straight of the back of Mallory, booked onto Donny for an evening sesh with afew mates. Been to donington loads but surprisingly never driven it even though its the track closest to me. Met up with afrodan and had a steady drive down early afternoon.IMG_1452.webp
Two more friends with Renaults were booked on aswell…IMG_1453.webp

Didn’t really prep the 5 as it was already track ready. Just check the vitals and away I went.

Drove like a champ, wasn’t as quick as the other lads on full slicks but still overtaking plenty of other cars on track. AR1’s were great as usual. IMG_1476.webpIMG_1475.webpIMG_1467.webpIMG_1469.webpIMG_1474.webpIMG_1473.webp
Definitely need Togo back to Donny as I know I can be a hell of a lot quicker round there. Was finding the limits of the ds2500 brake pads but I think that was down to the steelies not letting enough air through to the brake disc. Coming into the pits after 5laps you could barely touch the front wheels.

You can see my lines weren’t great but I’ll definitely know for next time what part of the track to use. Did plenty of laps though and took loads of folk out on track. Literally ran it till the tank was empty enough till I started getting fuel surge and then had enough just to get me home. Really enjoyed it and I think now is the right time to pull it off the road and get some work done on it as it’s been used and abused for +2 years. Planning on getting it back on the road for May ready for Retrorides weekender as I wasn’t to take it round Goodwood.

Forgot to ask @Paul B how/where did they time your lap at Mallory?? From that timing gear on the back straight after gerrads?
It's basically 1.5 laps ,the timing gear is half way down the back straight and it also gives MPH figure as you cross it..my best was a 103mph, the gobstopper 3 was 154mph and still accelerating at that point..just WOW..
Sadly putting the finish line there means you may just lock up and miss the edwina chicane causing a FAIL.
Boooo..haha

Cheers for that 👍🏼 I’ve just looked back at my videos and setting off from to the pits, doing 1.5laps to half way down the back straight is 87 seconds for me.
