Hello! New 5 GTT owner.

Thanks mate, really appreciate that offer.

Must say I was absolutely gutted when I realized. The amount of money that some people are asking for parts I honestly feared the worst.

Not going for concourse by any means. Get it up and running and back on the road and make improvements if and when I can to make it more my style.

As my wife reminded me, I bought this for the enjoyment of doing it. Just need to relax and try not to stress.

To be fair I did research the cost of parts before buying. Hence why I feared the worst and still do a bit to be honest.

I didn't however pull out the looms properly that were boxed and figure out what they were, or expect for every part of the entire car wiring to be removed and missing.

Taking peoples word that everything was there, that one is definitely a mistake on my part.
Expensive lesson learnt. 😭

Yeah, good bit of trial and error going on. Currently trying to get my head around the pipe work routing. Figured the boost with Front mount intercooler easy enough along with the main rad hoses (alloy rad so a bit different from standard).

The rest is more of a challenge as the water bottle has been relocated into the drivers side scuttle, also there doesn’t appear to be a swirl pot 🤔

Enjoying the challenge though, bit like doing a jigsaw someone has taken scissors to right enough.

Cooling system is simple also, Water pump to heater matrix and back to water pump.
Water pump to carb, then turbo and back to water pump.
Water pump to rad top with thermostat in, rad bottom back to water pump.

Mine doesn’t seem to be like the above.

I haven’t moved the two turbo pipes.

They look to be coming from pump > turbo > back to pump.

There we many home brew modifications to the cooling system done at various times.

Your appears to be missing coolant runs to the carb base and a return from the water reservoir ( missing )

Yeah, my reservoir appears to have been relocated to the scuttle area on the drivers side. I think the return actually comes in through the inner wing. Got a bundle of pipes and just trial and error to see how they can possibly route. Thanks for the heads up on where the carb ones go. I was a bit lost with that. Now I know where to try and get to. 👍

Thanks.

Thats not uncommon to relocate. I had mine in the inner nearside wing right next to the water pump.

That's an interesting looking water pump pulley?
Twingo1 setup. I can recall talking to the previous owner about this setup ages ago. Any pics of the alternator and crank pulley?

Regarding loom. Find a non turbo 1.4 auto dash loom if yours is poor. Will have every wire present for gtt and most are in miles better condition as not butchered for alarms etc.

Best picture I have of alternator pulley. Don’t have one of the bottom pulley to hand. But will try and remember to take one.

Thanks for the heads up on the dash loom, fingers crossed I think I have sourced the replacements. Should know by Sunday 🤞

When you say you spoke to the previous owner, are you referring to Sean who sold it to me or the guy who original stripped it for the engine conversion?

Would be interesting to find out a bit more of the history of the car. Can seen in the documents that came with the car its been rebuilt twice already. Around 2008 ish and then in 2019 I think.

I think it was the lad who originally stripped it for the conversion, i just recall having a conversation regarding the twingo aux setup.
