CALLING ON ALL R5 GTT Enthusiast's to help answer an age old question that’s been nagging me for sometime!
How many official R5 GTT Dimma’s exist today! I understand with good authority no more than 10 were built back in the day! So how many exist in 2024? That’s my question ??
To be clear the R5 Dimma didn’t have the 4 fin rear quarter we’re all accustomed to seeing on the 205 or Clio Dimma’s.
This is a “if you can be bothered” & I get maybe purists can’t… But I’m only interested in the “pure” official Dimma factory built R5’s! I’ve attached a picture of the official R5 GTT Dimma signature rear quarter or check Dimma.com
Thanks

Absolutely no idea…??

Always liked the Skeete kit better, and think I would cough up a lung for the Green Skeete 5 that was on the cover of Max Power..

Not really sure how you can answer your question definitely…. 🤔

Hey Mate
Thanks for your message and yeah I remember that green skeete from back in the day. They didn’t have the build quality and finish like the factory Dimma had, for example the gap fit, inner arches, finish, bonding and filler cap to tank fitting to name a few.
I’ve been doing my home work and not confirmed yet but as soon as I do I’ll share my findings. It’s looking a very rare car indeed and I’ll post my results soon enough.

Thanks

Marmite…..

Heres my R5 GTT DIMMA and a very rare bit of 80/90’s Hot Hatch history whether you love it or hate it. No more than 10 built and this is possibly the last one in existence unless you know of another. I’d love to know.

I’m at the final stages of completing a full restoration on it Renault 5 GTT from top to bottom! loads of new & original parts in excellent condition. This is an official Dimma or I’d not have gone all out and spent a small fortune. The list and man hours is detailed and endless! It’s built to OEM spec as it would have come from Renault and to DIMMA back in the day.

A Full bare paint including engine bay, boot and underneath in it’s original colour. It’s a full Dimma Conversion including Dimma Alloys Dimma leather interior including doors, suspension & exhaust. We’ve retained and restored the period twin headlights DTM wing-mirrors and front grill but replaced them back to the original Renault & Dimma spec from new with a set of standard of headlights, wing mirrors and grill to keep it as factory original as it came from new which gives it a hint of the 5 Turbo mid engined 80’s Rally car look. Imo it looks prefect and is a bit of Renault History.

It’s being fully appeased by Dimma & Renault as soon as its fully completed and I hope to have it in an editorial feature soon. There’s loads of Dimma’s but not many Renault 5GTT’s so I wanted to reach out for any feedback, information etc.
More pics as we get nearer to completion. Then the lovers & haters can decide. I LOVE IT. Coming to shows soon….IMG_8168.webpIMG_8177.webp

How did dimma fill the inner arch gap?
Hi Clarky
Here’s a few pics admittedly not the best but you get the idea. What I’ve found over the years basically owning every car you can think of including classics & many Cobra recreations is you find quality in the areas you can’t easily see or access. That’s what makes a nice “conversion or build” IMO. Dimma nailed this back in the day and being a Factory built R5 means it’s the best it can be. I hope this helps.

Interesting!

I was wondering when the 'for sale' advert was going to appear.

Yep. Look how rare and cool my car is....£££££££

I’m pretty sure I’m losing my marbles, even then I’m sure the original “project” thread said he was trying to find out more info on the number of dimmas before he puts it up for sale. Might have been a cheeky edit or another site but we don’t have the knowledge he was after, we’re a different type of nerd around here 🤣

Didn't see the 'for sale' mentioned, but he was following the tried and tested method of writing as much bullpoo about the car as possible thinking that it's £2000 per paragraph on the sale price.
