Heres a sneak peek of my R5 GTT DIMMA and a very rare bit of 80/90’s Hot Hatch history whether you love it or hate it. No more than 10 officially built and this is one of if not the last factory cars in existence unless you know of another. I’d love to hear of and find another from the 10.
I’m at the final stages of completing a full restoration from top to bottom! loads of new & original parts in excellent condition. This is an official Dimma or I’d not have gone all out and spent a small fortune.The list and man hours is detailed and endless! It’s built to OEM spec as it came from Renault to DIMMA back in the day.
A Full bare paint including engine bay, boot in it’s original colour. It’s the full Dimma Conversion including Dimma Alloys Dimma leather interior including doors, suspension & exhaust. We’ve retained and restored the period twin headlights DTM wing-mirrors and front grill but replaced them back to the original Renault & Dimma spec from new with a set of standard of headlights, wing mirrors and grill to keep it as factory original as seen on the Dimma Site which gives it a hint of 5 Turbo mid engined 80’s Rally car look. Imo it looks prefect and is a bit of Renault/Dimma History.
It has very low mileage with a FSH all the documents, books including invoices from Dimma & Renault from new. It was Family owned all its life, Dry stored over 20 years and now having the finishing touches. It’s being appeased by Dimma & Renault as soon as it’s completed and I hope to have it in an editorial feature soon. Any suggestions on the best online magazine publication to feature it in would be gratefully received.
There’s a lot of variations of the Dimma most famous being the 205 but not many Renault 5GTT’s so I wanted to reach out for any feedback, information and how many have survived, I know no more than 10 official cars were built. I’ve put it out on different forums and I’ve not heard of another live factory built R5 Dimma as yet and would love to know. I'm keen to hear if any are left.
There’s lots more information and pictures coming really soon as we get nearer to completion. Then the lovers & haters can decide. It’s Hot Hatch history and a OEM Dimma. No engine mods. I hope to come to a few London based shows or meets soon…. Thanks in advance
