5 GT Turbo F4Rt - hopefully the correct decision

Also is there any reason I cannot use a bit of sealant on the inner and outer of the rear main seal ?
Never put sealant on crank seals mate. It's all about cleanliness, positioning and fitting. Use a genuine seal if you can, I remember back in the day I couldnt get a R9 timing chain cover to seal on the crank, I had 3 or 4 goes before my local engine shop said to try an OE one and as soon as I put one in, it never leaked again (although shortly after that I rammed it into a lamp post lol)

Sorted the cap fiasco now with any luck. I followed the instructions from @James5 and @bloke by removing the cap, cleaning it all up and starting again.

Interestingly I found that these two little bits of rubber were within the channels themselves without any sealant. Not sure if this is OE or what but I’ve removed them and replaced with sealant.

I’m going to let the sealant set for 24hrs, then just add a touch more sealant down the side before fitting the rear main seal.

I’m also looking at a clutch upgrade as well as @James5 seems to have issues with Helix and not entirely sure it fill me full of confidence. I may as well sort new set up before I put engine back in hopefully for the last time.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

that's not how you seal it. Rang couple of times but got no answer. Give me a ring and I'll talk you through what to do.

I sealed it how you told me too before. Sorry mate, was working when you called.

I took cap off, cleaned it all up, put cap back on, torqued it, pumped sealant down the sides/channels until it came out front and back as well as at the bottom, cleaned up excess and left to set.

What should I do different ?

Fuck it !! I can’t sell it !! It’s too ace and I’m too far into it. I want mega power wheel spinning fun and games.

I’ll have to pull engine again when I can be fucked. Perhaps it is the cap that’s leaking, fuck knows !!!

It can stay in the garage for a while until I feel love again.

Good decision, you can't let it beat you. Too much work has gone into it now to watch someone else enjoy all your hard work!

Hope it all works out, good info for me too as I'm about to build my engine.

I’ve decided as I’m not in such a rush now plus I’ve got a bit more cash to throw at it that I’m going to upgrade the clutch now but also going to get a custom inlet made plus I’m toying with the idea of running a methanol kit as well. It might just be heat soak due to the location of the inlet temp sensor but inlet temps seem on the high side even at low boost.

What temps were you seeing? I know mines a small engine and turbo but pushed flat out, i do monitor temps and rarely see more than 6-8 degrees above ambient on full chat. Have recently been reading up on meth injection though, mainly pre turbo stuff for increasing compressor efficiency as i dont seem to be suffering with inlet temp issues
