Big Steve’s F**ked it!

Oh sh****t @Norwich Nick !! Gutted to read you’ve sliced thru something mate.. looks like your Christmas 23 is going to be a TAD different, like mine is…!? Hope they can get you sorted mate! I’ve heard some good things about the Norfolk and Norwich hospital, so hope you’re in safe hands..???

I’m sporting a very similar look at the moment mate, I didn’t think it was catching 🥴

(Me, @Millie_Bee and our Niece at a light show last night)

As for an update on me, I’ve managed to get myself at the top of the list for an operation on Friday 5th January 2024 with a top orthopaedic surgeon in the UK, where he’s hoping to rewire me somehow and give me some movements in my right arm. He has stated that I need to get used to the fact I’m never going to get full movement or control or strength in my right arm again, and it’s always going to be an assist arm to my left arm. 😪😭🤕

I’m slowly coming to terms with the fact that I have indeed changed my life, but have still not come terms with the fact I might not be able to drive a manual car again…

Of course, it’s still early days and I might get more movement back than he suggests, but only time will tell.

Thanks for asking Nick, this forum is very dear to me, so I do use it as a little bit of a support network.

Get well soon mate!

I think manual cars may still be on the menu, as long as there is power steering. May have to get creative with Driver aids for Trackdays etc. It will all be do-able, just needs a slightly different approach, and some re-training for the Driver..... There is still a possibility it won't be needed at all...
Good Luck for the new year.

Maybe a sloppy old gear box with a long shift so it doesn’t need to be so precise?
Definitely ways and means 👍

Glad to hear you’ve got a date Steve, the rewiring sounds about right, felt like a puppet on a string when he was doing the repairs, I damaged my index and middle finger.

Glad to see you out and about, you really have been through a traumatic event with real life changing injuries, sounds like you’re getting used to the fact now but don’t forget to remind everyone! 🤣

Ignore me, it’s not you who can’t use his left hand, it’s me 🤦🏼‍♂️🤣

You’d want a nice tight gearbox with a rifle action, short shift! You only really need to be able to lock the steering wheel with your knees and a half salute while changing gears? (He says, not being able to touch the steering wheel with his knees 🤡)

Thanks for the best wishes gentlemen!

Back home now after the operation, with my right arm in a sling which I’m not allowed to move for 6 weeks! 😕
I’ve had a couple of nerve transfers into my shoulder and bicep, so hopefully get some movement back.

Also got a gruesome video of my op from the Surgeon, showing me what he did:

Yes, that’s my arm…
