Back home now from London after multiple tests and a meeting with the consultant….. it’s been a rather sh1t day to be honest ….
Talked me thru the MRI scan results he’d got, and showed me how one of the discs on my neck had become bulged and pushed the central nervous “pipe” in my spine off centre, together with the bits where you could see the nerves pulled out, and where some of the fluid had leaked out.
Reiterated that I’ve been thru
MAJOR trauma and should not take it lightly.
Surprised at how fast my bicep and tricep has withered away in 11 weeks.
Said that I need surgery to try and give me shoulder movement but he needs to sit down and think what to do.
Says he believes he could fuse the nerve of my shoulder to my back somehow and then the nerve of my bicep to my chest?? Suggests if I’m lucky I could lift my arm to give a salute

(salute yourself and see where your arm gets to).
I need to come to terms that my arm is not going to be the same as it was and it’s going to be a support act to my left arm which is now the main event. Reckons it would be 6 months after surgery before I started to see results. (Nerves will need to grow & fuse)
Surgery could be in about 6 weeks but advised he doesn’t want me to have the surgery before Christmas and then run the risk of complications over Christmas… (you know there’s always emergencies in hospitals over Xmas) …. So better to wait until new year.
I need to expect to have my arm in a sling for at least another year….

Didn’t ask when or what id be able to drive… just know its going to be a while…
