Twingo Adey's Twingo GT (F4R+T 2.0ltr engine swap)

What a shit day. 1.5 hours ish to swap out the twingo arb and wishbones in the rain. 5 hours trying to get the inner arb Bush clamps back on. One is there loose the other doesn't have a bolt in

the wishbones are very similar upon removal though the 172 items look to give a chunk of extra caster and possibly some extra width. wheel looks to.be about 10 to 15mm further forward. All needs aligning properly once I get the arb clamps sorted. I'm yet to drive it under it's own power yet but all seems ok so far. Once done it should aid handling a little.

No rain, longer bolt and a good night sleep the arb is clamped up. Sprayed some holes with cavity wax whilst under there to hopefully help with longevity of the car, and I had a can of the stuff kicking about.

not pretty but just the alignment to sort which should be getting done tomorrow. Pikey parts bin upgrades for the win.

I have it on good authority that the 172 rear beam bolts in but uses a different abs sensor. Once my buddy has dropped the beam off his 172 shell I'll take it home and have a good look over it.

Longer 5th gear for motorway cruising

Chassis
AP Coilovers
280mm cliosport disk upgrade and Peugeot calliper’s with fresh typ2000 fluid
15inch OZ F1’s with toyo t1r rears and new toyo TR1
20mm spacers and longer bolts
Set to 7min tow out and 1.6 degrees of negative camber up front
Clio 172 wishbones
Clio 172 25mm antiroll bar, powerflex inner and outer bushes

engine swap would be good in it though it then looses it mpg? I think the engine can take a little more power yet though, just currently limited by the turbo and clutch. Plus the engines are 100 sheets a go if it let's go.....

I do keep having ideas of building a pikey engine for it, 172 bottom end with a 197 head along with a Chinese cast manifold and t28. should be good for 280bhp easy then more with rods done and I can chuck it in on a cheap clio gearbox.

So I had the alignment done this eve, caster is now at around 4 degrees, camber set at 2.1 and about 10min tow out. I drove there with 5 degrees of tow out! camber was 2 on one side and 3 on the other?

It's safe to say theres a massive improvement at the front end. The whole lot feels nice and tight, super nimble and the feedback is great, you can really feel it's all tightened up. Handling has stepped up massively with relatively little changed. I'll get the rear beam in and working then look at replacing the wishbone and beam bushes.

I dont trust many geo people. A lot seem to be generic and only after the fastest way to extract the most cash out of you.

Who do you use @Adey?

Also fitted a favourite of mine. The nylon type gear knob. The oem gaitor didn't reach the base of it so I sleeved the shaft with some silicone. In the next day or 2 I should have a few ball end studs and I'll be trying a diy short shift mod, very similar to the early meg 225 versions. There is literally no one selling a short shift kit for these or the clio tce that I can find.
