Hi,
What are the differences, if any, between the 4 variants of D4FT 1.2 Tce engines (780, 782, 784, 786)? Also, are all D4FT variants interchangeable between models which had these engines fitted (i.e, 780 engine fitted to 786 car etc), particularly with ECU's, gearboxes etc?
I found a little bit of information here, but it's scarce:
Loved my Twingo RS133 for many many years now, chassis and shell still feels remarkably fresh but the mileage is starting to get high. I don't daily it anymore and intend on keeping it as a 'forever car'. Tossing up the pro's and con's of getting the K4M block resleeved with new Wossner pistons, or getting a low-ish miles D4FT swapped in, most likely off a Renault Wind donor car.
I know F4R/T is what most people would do, but I don't do trackdays; losing ~40kg on the front and a boatload more low-end torque paired with the RS Cup chassis sounds perfect for road use. The tuning scene for the Twingo GT's has me intrigued! Sub-1000kg with full interior (bar rear seats and spare wheel) and reliable ~160hp with a marginally larger 37mm-42mm turbo seems achievable and ideal.
Maybe it's a silly idea though
