Twingo Adey's Twingo GT (F4R+T 2.0ltr engine swap)

Had a bit of a whoops with the Twingo. TBH The cars felt a little off since the track day but after a drive in a torrential downpour today I thought I'd give it a quick check. Initially it wasn't too bad until I jacked the car up... I think they were never done up tight enough and bouncing the kerbs a little at Curborough got them to slip. Nipped up for now just need to get everything aligned again 🤦🏻‍♂️

The back bumper on the twingo was starting to offend me, tbh I did rush the speed holes on it so I took a little time today to try and neaten it up. I'd also noted that yotah (check his vids on YouTube) had added some extra holes behind the wheels on his car. With the bumper off you could see why, 2 more areas where there was an air trap with witness marks from the road spray. So whilst it was off I added some relief there too.

Not much else done recently, after the bumper I touched in a few little marks around the car, gave it a clean, light machining followed by a glaze and wax using poor boys products. Looks and feels nice in the flesh but the pics from my phone can never capture it or how metallic the paint is. Beads up well with just the night time moisture. The colour is NNJ Rouge Dyna Red. I've actually never seen it on another Twingo, came on the Mk4 Clio and Mk3 Megane's though. Just past 56k now too 💪

I made a little update video on the Twingo, its been pretty much 6 months on the road now and I've had a few messages asking for updates, hopefully this covers them and any other questions I've been sent (y)

Small aesthetic touch to rear of the Twingo. Same as I did to my old R5 GT Turbos back in the day. European rear light cluster fitted so the reversing light is deleted. Cleans up the rear a touch. MOT requires it fitted and working on cars from September 2009, this car was on the road in July so gets away with it. Also hit the badge with some satin black paint to take the chrome off the rear.

Thanks for looking in (y)

Lacking in pictures but a small update. First off the hub was whipped off so a new bearing could be pressed in. The bearing was fine the issue I had was id damaged the reluctor ring when I had the shaft in and out a few times during the build. Its part of the bearing itself unlike the 172 which has an external ring on the driveshaft. So new one of those pressed in as a favour at the garage when taking the family wagon in for its MOT. Whilst it was all apart I slapped in some new pads. I run Peugeot callipers on my car and pad choice is limited (well not as supported as the 172) and pricey in some cases. So Ive gone with the review/advice of @DaveL485 and tried out some Yellowstuff pads (part number DP41375R) Years ago I wouldn't of touched these with someone else's stick but so say they have changed? that and unlike the £220+ quotes I was getting they came in at a shave under £90 for the set. We will see how they fair. Anyway all fitted up, a drive down the street saw the ABS light go out, just need to put some bedding in miles on the car (y)

Cheers for reading

I wrote up a quick Twingo GT (Non RS, should work on any 259mm setup) 280mm front brake upgrade for those looking for a little more stopping power (y) I have ran this setup on my own car for 2 years now. Easy to do and doesn't break the bank.

Similar ratios to the DCi box I've got ready to fit into the Meg.
Think you'll be lucky to see a 6.5k shift though! Mines flat at about 5.8k. Haha
They do have a lot of low down to mid range go in them. 3rd gear power on's are great! :D

Once mapped, I'm sure it'll all change.

I reckon the std gt spoiler creates some lift, rather than downforce, maybe fit some spoiler tape stuff to it, i was looking at this until a gen renault "cup" spoiler popped up

@YamYamRob there's has been a notable difference in feel since adding the side holes to the bumper, very noticeable at silly speeds . I think it needs a cup spoiler really

Managed to bag the rs133 front wishbones, hubs, driveshafts, arb and rack along with the rear disc/hub setup with a hope that I can make it all fit the GT. It was all dropped off and deal done in a trade for some work on the chaps RS133. Springs all round, removal of some stuck bolts and a fresh set of plugs thrown in (y)

The rear drums on mine are getting noisy on braking so assuming I'm out of shoe. Trying to convert the rear to disc will be the first part of it. Then hopefully the front afterwards. Hopefully it will fit and not cause the wheels to hit the arches..... I do run 20mm spacers all round currently so wont need to run them afterwards. I've ran the same wheels on an rs133 previously so shouldn't have too many problems as the RS body is only wider due to the add on arches on top of the standard Twingo body.

As a side note I have a 182 rear setup sat here too, check the difference and how the rs133 is wider than the 182. Measures up at 46mm wider each side!

I'll have the spacers if you want rid of them after 😅

I need to get the drums off the back of mine, I'm convinced they're the originals (stamped 28.03.2010 on them) and they absolutely will not come off regardless of what I try so I think they've gouged a trench in them. Suspect I'll need to get a brake drum puller and rip them out, cant see to see a hole on the rear side to unwind them at all.

I tired one a few weeks ago and came to the same conclusion, I'm in hope that I can just drop the whole things off tomorrow buy removing the 4 fixing bolts on the back of axle. Ill let you know on the spacers, someone else has shown an interest already but its 4x 20mm spacers with extended bolts and 4 extended locking wheel bolts (y)

Quite possibly. I'll have a proper look once I pull the disk off the stub.

For info I'll also get some side by sides of the wishbones vs clio 172 items, hopefully over the weekend.

Stripped down it looks like I need one ball joint, a set of front callipers (172 items fit but the 133 have a huge pad in comparison and they are shared with some laguna 3's) and a drop link. I'd also need to add a droplink bracket to my coilovers to fit the front end stuff 🤔. That will probably be a later on project, the rear is my current priority.
