Twingo Adey's Twingo GT (F4R+T 2.0ltr engine swap)

I had read of people on track running them up near 105/110? to be honest @Brigsy I hadn't thought of the cold limiter, I've never noticed one but then I don't tend to lean on it until warmed up. Where does the cold limiter usually kick in? I will have to do some more research and testing.

If it has a cold limiter it will give you the 5500rpm misfire. Tbh the cool running stat is crap all round and temp will still get up there when on it. It will keep the oil too cold when crusing and affect mpg. When i had the weak stat in mine i instantly noticed improvements in mpg when fitting a new one and oil temps raising from 69-70deg up to early 80s.

If coolant temps are a major issue it might be time for a better rad. What style of rad is currently fitted? One with loads of small bars or a few large bars? The latter type are a bit shit cooling.

Its an oem type 182 radiator, smaller than the meg item which was my concern for the future, its panelled in and I haven't actually had an issue on the road was just a worry for when I get on some track days in the future, beating on it lap after lap is very different to hauling it down the motorway. The stat is what is specked for a factory Clio 197/200, why do they have a lower one fitted?

Is this the rad you have fitted now? Swap it for the type underneath. The smaller bar rad cool miles better than the large bar aftermarket rad, The meganes have the same issue when fitted with the large bar aftermarket type, get hot after a couple of laps on track. I dont think rad size will cause a massive issue on yours, my mate ran 440hp through a mishimoto alloy rad on his clio turbo converted with no issues.

Oem valeo 172 rad is small bar iirc. Id bet the design has changed now like the meg rads to the crap design. Need to change mine on the Kangoo its on the never ending list

I might have one kicking around somewhere, they started to deform when I got to heat/stress testing them unfortunately so needed to be printed in a different material
Ah, was hoping it would hold up. Will have to get one made in ally, going for a wider tube though.

This morning I have spent a little time collating dyno info for a range of Twingo's. The info was taken from RS Tuning and EFI Parts so pretty accurate vs some no name tuners. I find things like this interesting, you may not but thought id post it up here. On this is a f4rt, SC f4r, N/A f4r, k4mt, k4m and D4ft, all tuned. The first pic is a little noisy due to the amount of plots on there so I stripped it down to one for Horsepower and another for Torque. Hope you like it

Managed to give the car a good thrashing at Curborough Sprint Course with the Renault Twingo Owners Club. Was a great well organised event which allowed me to give the Twingo its first aggressive shake down without committing to a full track day then finding issues 10 min in. Great selection of twingos there, from near stock GT's 3 wheeling the corners to full blown stripped track weapons with 2.0ltr and 2.0ltr supercharged engine swaps. I totally forgot to switch on my GoPro most of the time so only actually recorded 2 runs from the day. Still a good experience even in a road car (with an abs fault 🤦‍♂️)

Didn't get many action shots from the day, if I find any of the car ill post them up

Looks great. Looks like front suspension needs upgrading to cope with front end weight possibly?
Will probably look at a rear arb first. I'm not really interested in stiffening it up much more as it's a road car not a track toy. It's not too bad out there, Curborough is a very very tight track so some corners really load it up.

Yeah very tight there and very harsh kerbs - destroyed a gearbox in my 172 there a few years back trading times with another 172 lol

I remember you saying so I decided to keep off them as much as possible, could of shaved a decent amount of time off but was worried about smashing a shaft or box up. Was still fun though, more of a social. Some of the lads there were bouncing off everything flying around on 3 wheels 😂
