Twingo Adey's Twingo GT (F4R+T 2.0ltr engine swap)

Always a crazy amount of oil left in the pans of these F4 engines when you take the sump off isn’t there... nearly worth drilling another bloody sump plug!!

Looking for some opinions on the aux belt run, I'm not using the ac or the pas that was originally fitted to the engine, the car has epas anyway. Now I'm going to just cut off any excess bracket material that's not needed. Id like to keep the auto tensioner to keep the belt some what tight but should I ditch the lower idler and run straight through on the underside?

I think id be going with this, belt run 1 as this should keep tension on the belt and the alt itself cant be adjusted to add tension.

If it is only the Alt running on the belt then it won't see much load, so set up 1 should work fine, perhaps the belt would tend to whip at higher RPM, if there is room for it keeping the lower guide would stop this happening. Are you needing this bit of space or can it stay?

pretty sure there is room to keep it, i just like to make things as simple as possible if i can.

Seen several Megs run that set up, on track too, without issue. 1x2 pulley is smaller dia' (and lighter)* if it looks like the belt might catch on the cambelt cowling, but think you'll be ok as is.

* Smaller than the 225 pulley that is.

ill measure up and take a look cheers (y)

Gearbox has arrived and looks to be a JR5119 box which gives the following speeds at the top of each gear.

though looking dirty it seems to select gears nicely and rotates smoothly. Just need the flywheel and clutch to turn up and I can mate it all together and see if it fits in the car 👍🏻

The GT driveshafts fit in nicely and the original GT gearbox mount bolts to the box itself so fingers crossed its going to be a drop in affair.

Do it like I did on the turboshed

172 engine mount also fits the chassis as expected. Renault have a few choices of slave cylinder, the differences seem to be the hose connections between the master and slave. After a measure up, the size and throw all seem to be the same so I have fitted the Twingo GT slave to the JR5 box to keep the same hose connection as already fitted to the car (y)

Is this where we find out )everything is the same) except the twingo engine bay is about 4" thinner side to side? :D :D
Maybe lol, nah I think its nigh on exactly the same, Twingo GT seems as wide as a Clio 172, considering the front arb fits the same id say it is. Front to back between the wheels its around 4 inches shorter than a 172 though.

Ill hopefully have it test fitted by the weekend all being well and then ill confirm.

Is this box similar to 5,9&11 turbo?? if so then the F4R series could be mated to much older transaxles. Think this could be the case as have just seen pics of F4R fitted to R12. keep an eye out for a set of Wheelie bars to fit on the back of the dope and a ballistic parachute.
