So while still feeling ill and getting through a days work, decided the best thing to do would be to get a few hours in the garage, lol 😆 suffering for it now mind 😮‍💨

Measured again and finished welding up frame and put into position, cut out more of inner arch ready to tackle suspension top pickup and, of course make mounting plate to secure to chassis.

I have 40mm to play with on mounting of frame height which will help CoG of engine and box but trade off with car height/wishbone angle.....unfortunately no space to mount engine lower in frame as....well its too big 😋 lots more measuring and reviewing options.

📸 💣 of said above to bore you all further 😉

Few hours driving myself mad triple measuring....took deep breath tacked on, threw brake disc on, trimmed arch bolted alloy on.....

So now know just how fat the new rear end is 🤪😎😎 will be running a wider rear wheel/tyre combo (retaining 17inch wheel) but good clearance on inner oem arch postion so can lose it there potentially.

Need to get some more box to finish rear mounting but should be good to fully weld up and get on to suspension pickups followed by engine and gearbox mounts 🥰

I've heard of Williams widetrack, but that Grier widetrack sure does take the biscuit! 😲😆

Can you not pull those wheels in a bit? Or are you going to fit a SKEETE style body kit to accommodate that extra girth?

Loving the work though sir, proper brave pill stuff!!

Fear not, few options earmarked...currently 25mm wider each side than originally planned but comfortable it will come good 😉 could treat ET a bit if desperate

I may look to go wider as current wheel 17x9 and while 245 tyre on currently and while could go 255 had in mind 265 tyre so need 10inch rim

Thanks to @Mark_L have some basic dimensions of turbo 2 rear arch so if going that route will not need to potentially extend it which was a pleasant surprise but see....

Currently looking at turbo 2 maxi kit and adapt/modify as needed. Has to be easier route to look half decent 🤔

Ok so I know your all missing my 📸 💣 power hours even if you don't know you are 😜

So back feeling better and thought as a treat lots more measuring as I am complete paranoid android/control freak lol....got car super level, and spaceframe level, straight and as planned. Tacked final front tabs in, cant do the rear until new steel turns up 😞 how expensive is steel now 😱 anyway.....

Got onto other rear arch, cut out most of my repair section doh, mounted both wheels, lots more measuring after and looking good - taking that as a win🏆

Once steel turns up will get rear done, final check and remove to weld up any bits. Then as a 1st draft other than suspension top mounts is done and will look to start front (will do final version in tube after)

Oh and get engine in place and decide if I mount to spaceframe or be mounting to roll cage???

Very little actual time on the 5 recently with other commitments and getting the track car fixed as per other thread......

Soo after ticking off some home diy just had a decent 3hr blast 🤗

.......ok while I am sure it was more than fine after having a real good look the other day with fresh eyes found my front witness centre point mark on the spacefame was 0.6mm out and while sure I could lose this when get to geo stage it troubled me - a lot!

Removed cut off tabs, cleaned up and started again.....in true over think everything I also decided to bring the whole spaceframe 5mm forward also without impacting oem inner forward arch and structural area....again seems nothing but all helps and am now happy with the draft spaceframe. Short of upgrading from plumb lines, right angles and spirit levels to laser power I can't get much better 👍

Steel turned up for front and can start the joy

Ok couple hours squeezed in, cut out some more boot area needed and rear done for now 💪🏻 bolts on and fits like a glove

Sooo started on front, fitted oem subframe as a good guide to work from and saves some work.....hours and hours of measuring, planning, measuring to do and get on with making it 😉

You can see in pic the rough position of lower arm so definitely does not fit gt turbo pickups 😆

@Steve Swan I like this kind of question and welcome your views/knowledge/experience 😉

So my original plan was
Wheelbase 2330
Track front 1450
Track rear 1488

As I stuck with my Dr Evil plan of 5 pot and DSG I had to extend my rear track by 50mm which is a 3.36% addition.....

......now I am looking at extending the wheelbase by the same 3.36% and guess what! That is .288 above stock GT turbo, coincidence, planned, manifestation???? 😉 those who know me well know the answer lol

Anyway still reviewing final wheelbase and front track as I have full choice of what I want really. @Woznaldo has kindly offered to run the numbers into his simulator but I need to validate a few more measurments for him....this has reminded me 😉

So if I applied my 3.36% uplift flat across all points I am at
Wheelbase 2408
Track front 1499
Track rear 1538

Thoughts? Feedback?

Monday night spam after 2.5hrs of fun just and within about 1mm variance where it sits for my planned wheelbase and track which is more than close enough to start working out how I am going to tackle it.

Looks like using the oem subframe is going to be more hassle due to lower pickup points and prob do the same as I did at the back
