Totally forget to update here for quite some time
Happend so much in the meanwhile, i dont know where to start.
Right after the crash a bought a new twingo with broken engine, i didnt want to rush it and get it back on the road so i could do some laps in 2023.
Didnt know if i want to do a ''clubsport'' kinda build again or go full trackday build with the twingo and even dont road register it.
So i first had to do some soul searching before i could start working on the car and make a bit of a plan what i wanted to do with it in the future.
Still own the 197 and thats become a bit of a ''clubsport'' car now, 2 buckets, half cage, 6points, and so on.
The R26 i'm still using as my daily driver, absolute love it how it is.
So i decided that i gonna do a full track build on the twingo, as less compromise as posible, no MOT rules that stand in my way. Pure trailer queen in the future.
a one of the top priorities is weight saving.
First things first, i fully striped the interior, stripped down the loom, only the essentials stayed, and then dropped it of for a full rollcage.
Also i needed to drop the fuel tank, and take out the windows in order to get it prepped for the cage builder.
I went for a crommobilene version so it is as lighte as possible, 25% lighter than normal steel. Full cage is 37kg.
The dashboard is flocked for a real racecar look, was in doubt if i should do it, but once it was out it made sence to do it now.
I dont have picture of it yet for some reason i didnt took one.
Made a trip to the UK, 1502km in 25hours, took the ferry from calais to dover and drove to wales to pick up some loverly carbon parts @radcomposites, bought the whole package, so i hope it sames some kg.
I took my wifys twingo diesel, the only car with good fuel consumption i own
After the car got back from the cage builder it was time to prep it for some paint.
I really overlooked the amount of time it would take to paint the inside
Sanding and grinding everything, masking, primer, sanding, base coat multiple times, clearcoat.
It was a whole new experience for me, i enjoyed it even tho i had to go deep to get this job done.
After so many evenings after work its done and im really really pleased with the end result.
Primer:
Basecoat, i went for the same colour as the exterior. TNK gris altica.
There are left so many shitty jobs to do in the interior to get it back together and, i have to relocate the bonnet release opener because the cage is in the way, loom back in place and secure it, find a good location for the battery, en a whole lot of other stuf.
A friend and fellow twingo rs driver 3d printed a bracked to secure my lithium battery, from prototype mesuring to end product:
Next thing to do is fitting the dashboard, i first need to trim it around the rollcage, i planned to make some templates of it to measure where i need to trim it.
Curious to see how that will end.
I will try to update some a bit often
