Twingo Twingo RS133 trackday build

Yes, there is.
Made everything ready for the engine swap, like engine loom ect ect, but i decied im not going to swap my twingo.
Drove a lot of nordschleife this year and the twingo was really enjoyable like it is now.
For 2023 season i bought a jahreskarte so i can drive unlimited laps on the nordschleife, but in order to do that i need a reliable tracktool.
Not gonne gamble with the swap and have some kind of little issues i need to solve every time i take it out.

Now im keeping my eyes open for a cheap rs133 to do the engine swap.
In the meanwhile i bought a white megane 2 r26, only 3 in the netherlands registerd.

I start working on the clio 197, done the rear axle like the twingo, pure motorsport stiffening kit, poweflex black and so on.
The clio needs a lot of tlc, that is where my time and money is going the couple of weeks or more.
I am also building for track my Twingo cup step by step as much as i can 😁😁😁

Hi Daan, last year you changed the rings on the speedo and rpm gauges from oem silver ones to black ones. Much better! Can you advise me where to buy these? Thanks. Marcel

Hi Marcel, Bought them of a breaker car, they where on a normal 1.2 16v.

Time for a update on here.

Since i decide i'm not do the f4rt engine swap last winter, i had some ideas to make the twingo a bit more fun and give it some extra track performance.

Airducts:
A member of the dutch twingo group made some airducts to replace the foglights.
There are made to feed the airfilter of make brake cooling.
I've just put them on for a more sportive look.

Weight savings
I took out some ballance weights on the passanger side of the car, total saving 9.1kg.
Also bought a lightweight battery, lifePo4 lithium, only weights 1.1kg so i'm saving a massive 17kg on the drivers side of the car.

More power and noise
The little twingo could use some more exhaust sound in my opinion, installed a Ktec decat exhaust manifold. The sounds it makes are awesome, sort of rallycar sounds from back then when they ware NA powered.
After that the car got a remap to suit the decat and turn off the 2e lambda sensor so no fault codes came on. It made 143bhp and 178nm. Its not much faster but the powerband is more useable.

Season opening nurburgring 2023
So the first day of tourilaps opend on march 19th, it would be rude not to go and do some laps.
It was a bit cold, and some light rain now and then, manage to do 10 laps and it was a lot of fun from the first 1 on.

Spa francoschamps
Booked a Javelin trackday at spa francoschamps, first time for me with the twingo.
Was a bit scared it would not be fast enough, obviously it wanst on the straights, but all those legandary corners made it worth 100%
The weather was awesome, the vibes on and of track where good.
I chared the car with @YannikS as his car is stored at the nurburgring during TF season.

Season preparations
The car got a full service and check up over wintertime, change the engine and gearbox oil, 4 new yokohama a052 tires.
All was good, this thing just keeps going.

Thats it for now, not much going to happend during season 2023, just want to drive as much as possible.
Only thing i have doubt about is changing the coilovers to a AST 2 way coilover, well we see how the want for that will held up during the upcoming summer.

The amount of weight saved by these weird weight-blocks or anti-vibrations blocks is actually crazy, just like the battery. That's massive gains on a Twingo!
The manifold sounds awesome too, proper rally car.
Spa was definitely an experience with the Twingo but nothing short of awesome, the amount of cars that couldn't match it in the corners was crazy! So much grip in that Twingo, thanks for sharing it with me. 😁

It's about time the weather get's better around here so we can finally and properly start the Nordschleife season.

Hi, i. wanted to ask do you have problems with cooling with stock radiator? Does twingo need better racing radiator for better cooling on track? I think about that and i dont have experience yet so i ask here :)

Hi Fernando, no not at all. Even on summer days with 30degrees celcius on track no problems.
Stock cooling system is good enough, if i where you i would spend my money somewhere else.

Time to update the threat :clapping.gif:

Obviously i went to the nurburgring a few times

I ordered a AST 5200 2 way coilover, lead time 3-4weeks, later on more about that.

So in the meanwhile i had some other parts laying around waiting to get on the car finally.
I bought a clio v6 airbox, the biggest one that fits the small engine bay.
Made a cold air feed from both airducts in the front bumper with some 51mm flextube.

Got my hands on a used half collcage, it was red allready so matched good with the rest of my interior.

In the meanwhile AST deliverd the 5200 coilovers, it was the first time they made them for a Twingo RS.
Build quality is insane!
1 Small thing didnt fit right, so my twingo is @ AST HQ at the moment. So they can measure everything on the car.
Service is second to none, really great guys who instand want to help me.

As the twingo is out of use, it was a good oppertunity to take the daily driver to the nurburgring, The R26 felt so good i did 15laps in saturday.

Last week i recieved some more parts, this time a R2 front ARB 22mm with new bushings and mounting brackerts, R2 rear beam holders they are reinforced, and some Meyle HD droplinks.
Im waiting on a big parcel from PMS, hope it will come this week.

In the meanwhile i changed the rings on the speedo and rpm dail from oem silver one to black ones.
Its a small change, but i really didn't like the silver ones.
