Phil's AMC GTA

the car probably got jacked on the front member and that's how it bent, most are like that, just bend it back.

is there any gas still in the ac?

It looks as though it's been towed from the crossmember. I'll have to lift the radiator and aircon condenser before I can hammer it straight again.

I've not disturbed the aircon system, but the guy said it blew cold when it was running, so I presume it still has a charge. I've not taken it to bits specifically because I don't want the seals to dry out. It is probably due an overhaul- the compressor hasn't siezed up so a change of oil, an evacuation and a re-charge should see it working well again.

Odd angle to stand on!

poke the valve see if it sprays out.

As for the crossmember, just stand on it, will most likely go back to shape.

Am new to this aircon thing. Which valve?

I have one on the suction side that has a standard looking Schraeder cap on, but can't see anything down the neck, shall have to put a light to it; the other one is much more heavy duty, on the pressure side.

Dunno which is which or what lol

normally they twist up more than that, a hammer will sort that, seen much worse.

The caps have schrader valves under them, use a screwdriver and poke it, either one will do as the system is equalised when its not running. It shoudl spray out some oily mess, if nothing comes out theres nothing in it.

Popped both the caps off, there's no sign of any schraeder valves underneath, nor any way of screwing any in either.

Nothing escaped.

It was all a bit of a non-event really.

Phil, I'm really enjoying reading your project report! You're putting so much work into this car, Just wanted to say from one R9 owner to another, well done! Can't wait to see the finished product on here! You're making me want to do the niggly little bits on my 9 now! :D

I'm hoping it's going to be worth it... it's going to be a challenge remembering where everything goes back in.

Being held up by discontinued bearings and trying to find parts interchangability.

Really don't want to have to order a head bolt set from the UK but it looks like I might have to.

It'd look a lot better running lol

Waiting on a timing belt idler (immortal last words) and a rear engine mount

Wife's fussing me for spending money on the vehicle

Guess it's become a bit of a moneypit 8)
