The more my 5 is like @James5 the better so copied him on the coil pack bracket too albeit a touch of black instead of blue for a change.

Just need to reorganise the ignition leads to tidy it up.

not got a normal seal on the cam have you? seen that a few times, when the dephaser goes on it kills the seal.

I am not sure, I had planned to buy a new seal kit from ED? To be fair I bought all new seals from them before so I would expect them to have been correct. From what I have read on various forums seals can be pushed in too far or be squashed so possibly human error? What are your thoughts @bloke ? Have you see this before?

my first thought it wrong seal but could be any you've said. you got a local seal supplier? they are peanuts from them.

will be easy enough to see what the issue is when you strip it but still a pain that you've got to strip it down again. pain in the arse but shit happens, i built and fitted an engine the other month, went on rollers for mapping all went well except for a little oil leak, car came in next day for an oil and filter change and turned out was leaking from crank seal. i hadn't knocked it in after i'd put the cap on, at least everything came out easy enough!!

Provisionally arranged with Mark to get the car to him for 10th Nov. Hopefully a quick and easy fix. Will then spend a few weeks putting some miles on and checking all is well and then book mapping for late Dec/early Jan.

Easily done if it was. Always looks wrong when you fit them and there is a big gap!!

Dephaser can sometimes catch when it goes on and that can kill a seal.

Car is off to Mark tomorrow, hoping for an easy resolution. Weather is shit though I guess so no huge rush.

Mark has sorted the seals already so that’s all good but makes sense to fit new cam belt as the other one did get rather oily. Should have car back by next weekend.

I’ve asked him to start it up once done just to be sure it’s all good.

Thanks mate, still a few things to sort plus some bodywork to make it spot on but from a mechanical side should be pretty mental.
