5 GT Turbo F4Rt - hopefully the correct decision

Ticked off a few wiring jobs today.

  1. Alternator wiring permanently fixed to resolve the running on issue.
  2. Bosch 044 pump wired in with relay etc.
  3. New starter motor wire
  4. Racelogic box fixed in permanently (just needs tidying up)

Just waiting on custom fuel pump bracket to finish fuel system, it should arrive Monday. I then need to set gear linkage up and ready to do some miles.

Custom bracket arrived today for 044 pump, it’s spaced 4” so it can sit neatly next to the outlet from the swirl pot itself. I just need to secure in place and then run a few fuel hoses so should be good to go for a few miles this weekend.

My only concern is the 044 outlet to engine sits too close to the back box so I may need to move it all over a few inches for to gain a bit more clearance. Not sure how toasty the back box will get. 😂

Getting there (y) any pics of the finished fuel system?

Regarding breather system, i have been looking at modifying or making a similar setup to a cossie oil seperator/breather system. You could take the oil level sensor out of the sump and use that for a breather. Might be overkill on a fresh engine as they are usually pretty good with just a cam cover breather but may be worth a look.

Will get some pics tomorrow of setup. My only concern and one I need to check is that there won’t be any pinching as I’ve ran hoses over torsion bar. Will check on weekend.

Not sure regarding breather set up and I know @James5 and a few others running just the one standard breather but noticed that many high powered turbo cars run dual breathers. A lot of the Honda boys do it also plus Scoff and Robbie have done the same so I was planning on adding a second outlet/ port then into a dual catch tank. A bit like this.

Worth adding the extra breather, easy enough to do on the plate. As far as i know Scoff has added a crankcase breather into the sump too but hes really starting to push it now, so prob overkill for most setups.

I know you’re all bored of these stationary vids, the next ones will be me actually driving the car (I promise)

Anyhow a mate Lee was kind enough to take a good look at the map for me today, he spent a good hour tinkering with all of the fuelling and general settings in Wari, starts on the button now and idles at a much safer 14 odd rather than mid to low 10s.

Had some issues with coolant temp rising really fast and the fan wasn’t controlling the temps at all, saw 100c at one point. Anyway long story short I needed to recalibrate the coolant sensor with the info Chris at EFI provided a few months back and bleed system properly, that’s all sorted now.

One downside though is the running on issue still exists albeit intermittently. Need to revisit this as when it happens only way to stop car is to pull ignition coil pack plug.

So sort gear linkage, go for a drive and pray it doesn’t end in tears. Wish me luck 😂

Oh and the shitty release fork, release bearing or input shaft noise deeply upsets me. When clutch is depressed it’s purring!! 🤔🤬

seeing mark at the dyno day. if i have any ill sort it. Also im sure thats the working alt as i fitted a manufactured one when i first pulled it from the bush

Oh well, for peace of mind I’ll whack a new one on, everything else is new so why not. If issue still exists after that I’ll have to fuck with the wiring again.
