21 Turbo Amrits Red Rocket

New battery on
Remembered I blocked off two open ports on the manifold, so I unblocked them and it fired right up :) Then I started messing with settings so it would run with the ports blocked again. Was running very rich too, need an AFR... and an exhaust t fit it in!) to make any real improvements though.

Cooling system seems to be doing its job but the expansion tank cap is leaking at very low pressure so that needs changing too.
Ran it up to 70° but before I could do much more it chucked it down and I had to pack away, rained for the rest of the day :(

Sweet, Does it still have the extra thick row radiator?

Nope, but I did notice the thermostat looked like swiss cheese so that will need replacing too. Someone drilled about 15 holes in it.

Haha! Safe to say that wasn't me!! I fitted the bigger Rad because I did a lot of Goodwood track days & she got hot, but was ok with that rad. I never drilled the Stat out. I don't bodge stuff. Too anal!

Started putting a downpipe together today. I need an AFR reading to get it to run well enough to move it around now the coolant is in so a ZT3 has been purchased from EFI parts and the downpipe is for it to sit in obviously!

Did this with Johnspins car too to control the radial movement of the downpipe on the vband. Makes sure its positioned right and doesn't move to catch the engine or chassis.

that rusty strut brace looks like its starting ti rust the turret?
Or vice versa....either way yeah. The rack joint on that turret doesnt look great either and the chassis rail under where everyone spills brake fluid isn't very healthy but its one of those things. These cars rot, its the way it is, ive just chucked £400 at my jacking points to make them perfect with OE parts and professional bodyshop fitting, my rear arches are swiss cheese and one of my turrets is showing signs of tin worm too.

Just gotta suck it up and play along :)

Dave you should sell these Downpipes in the TR shop! Looks ace
One for me, please;-)
Its very labour intensive and I don't have a stainless TIG welder, you'll notice the joints are just tack welded at three points around the tube. I will have to make the rest to join to the middle section and then take the whole lot to my welder friend to seam weld with the proper stainless TIG.
A TIG welder is on my list of things to buy but I need to finish the garage first!

Attacked it again yesterday.

New oil pressure switch as the old one was leaking oil.

New connector on the aux coolant pump, which works as it should now. Quite pleased that I got the wiring right when I made the new loom :)
