Twingo Adey's Twingo GT (F4R+T 2.0ltr engine swap)

Another little issue that i didnt take photos of fixing was the fuel level. Its a common issue when switching fuel senders for the gauge to be well off. I remedied this by fitting the twingos potentiometer to the clio sender. It works in reverse though due to a a change in position so i re-bent the float arm to the opposite side of the sender unit so now it works.... yay.... it might need tweaking for accuracy so ill grab a pic next time its out. Also a couple of bad pics of the engine bay with all the pipes back on.

Seen a few engines for sub 200 on ebay. Box's are cheap and the whole lot all shares mounts with the clio 2, so anything them engines will fit onto this should fit into as well (y)

that's the breakers yard, last one in the shire nowadays due to health and saftey. 15years ago itd be common to see engines getting swapped out there lol. Now you have to ask permission to jack a car up and remove a wheel. Still a great place to go hunting around (y)

Twigworth breakers was my fav @Adey , used to walk around there for hours. There was one over Glos as well back in the day that housed JKs smashed up purple Lambo.

The twingo hasn't let me down yet, up to over 500 miles on the new returned fuel setup with no leaks so i guess thats good? down side is due to the setup not yet mapped ive had to drive for nearly 2 weeks on very little throttle and boost to keep the car running on the lambdas to make and corrections whilst cruising. Nothing major and ive been monitoring how much the ecu has been compensating and adjusting to make sure its within tolerances. I have thursday booked off work, first job is to get some tires pulled off my old wheels and fitted to the F1's as they are on the limit now then ill head up north (y). Getting quite excited to have it all mapped up and to see what she can do :D hopefully nothing fails. Apparently it really wakes them up and brings them alive I have got RAC cover just in case though.............

So I left the house at 10 am yest, giving me time for fuelling up, toilet stops and traffic. I was booked in for a 3pm start at EFI parts. A quick jet wash and fuel up before leaving town saw me hit the road in reality about 10.45 for a nice steady drive up north on light cruise. Sun was shining and all was good. And then I got close to brum, the traffic was shocking and the weather grim. Any way I arrived at EFI parts just after 2 after stopping into burger king (free 5bhp extra if you get chris some fries from there lol)

Once at the workshop we had a little chat about the old days, new stuff and expectations of the car. Bit of an odd one as the car really isn't tuned much anywhere so this was a little bit of research and development too. Chris plugged the laptop in and started doing his magic whilst I set about fitting the 172 injectors. After a little while a base map was written and loaded up onto the car and it fired into life. The ecu on these take about 6min for each flash so every time a change was made to the file there was a bit of a wait.

lots of pulls on the dyno logging and checking were performed. We at one point saw 170+ lbft at 20psi at around 2500 rpm..........abit high considering we didn't know what the engine could take lol we settled on 15/16psi of boost and the nice flat torque curve we have, I cant thank Chris enough, the car is a little riot to drive now and is literally like driving a new car rather than the old diesel style car it was. I set off home at about 8pm and landed safely at 11ish. long old day bit worth it. Revs really nice all the way round and makes some really nice noises :D clutch wont last im sure......... The drive is more akin to 172 now strangely but a modded one with out the flat spot or kick. But whilst doing so sounds like a megane on the exhaust. Hopefully at the dyno shoot out tomorrow i cam go for a little play with some clios and see how she fares.

Interesting it's around the same figures as a C1J on the same boost. I wonder with a bigger turbo whether it would be the same as the old 5 days.

Bigger turbo and clutch are next on the list i think will be interesting to see how it handles it, good going for sure and yeah similar power as a r5 gt with less capacity but 8 more valves. I can guarantee this has smaller thinner rods though so torque will break something at some point :D

So power wise its had a 47.9% increase in Horsepower and 38% increase in torque. Its enough in a light car to shock a few cars on the road. Especially the bright yellow 8L S3 i jumped on the way home from work. He pulled about 2 lengths on me till about 100mph then took off but after a few pulls i think he was surprised. Would be even more so if he knew it was a 1.1ltr lol
