Twingo Adey's Twingo GT (F4R+T 2.0ltr engine swap)

The last update for 2021! I've had the car back just over a year now and its gone through a huge amount of changes even though visually you wouldn't know it. Its basically a completely different car. Quite the project when you look back at it but its been really fun to build, it has saved my sanity during Covid and given me something to focus on (y) Anyway on the last day of the year I managed to sneak in a cheeky turbo swap using the 19T hybrid I purchased a few weeks back. I've got a lot going on next week and am in for an operation on my guts, after that mobility and having the ability to work on the car will be very limited so I decided to do this now and get it booked in with EFI when they open back up. There's a possibility even driving is going to be off the cards for 6 weeks. I've decided to just "send it" for now and aim for the magical 300bhp. The turbo should actually be good for a chunk more so will be ok on the next engine if I build one. I still have the fuel rail to fit when my fuel hoses turn up but that should be an easy job to do. The swap itself was very easy, @Brigsy pointed me in the direction of doing a cold side swap which was a really good shout as not only does it make the job easier my "new" rear housing was badly cracked so a win there. No need to go through the process too in depth, undo some bits, remove the chra clamp to the rear housing and wiggle out the core and front housing, replace it all with the new bigger 19T compressor and chra, prime it all then fire it up, jobs a good un (y) I also modified the heat shield/water feed, I don't use this on my car but it forms part of a nice heat shield on the right of the engine. All back in, awaiting the Cooksport fuel rail to be fitted then off to EFI hopefully at the end of Jan/start of Feb.

Thanks for reading and Happy new year to you all (y)

Managed to finish off the fuel side of things. The Cooksport fuel rail is a nice bit of kit though the injector clips are a pain to fit to it, I ended up fitting them from the underside (in case anyone else looks here and has an issue) Re plumbed the fuel lines with some 8mm high pressure e10 compliant hose. Nothing fancy but functional (y) The fuel setup should now be good for over 300bhp without the end cylinder running lean (y) Oh and I took a delivery of a set of Megane 250rs pistons and rods which I may use in the future :D

Are you running on e10 or super at the minute Adey?

Do you have a spare block as well? I dont think I have seen many pistons relieved of their duty that havent exited stage left via the block. Only a few seem to run lumpy and drop compression/bend the rods.

I tend to run on e5 super if I can get it but where I live the sometimes I only have e10 available. From what I understand it eats hoses so made sure it was compliant 🤷‍♂️

I will be getting a spare block to build up yes, not got one yet as 1, I'm not sure what one I would like to build into yet and 2, nothing has popped up cheap 😁

I assume your mapped for regular UL?

I think the E10 is more than just the rubber parts when left - it knacks injectors and due to the higher water level as the ethanol is hygroscopic increases rust on metals such as fuel tanks due to moisture.

Yep yep, I fill up and get mapped on the shit stuff from home so I know the car can do what it does in a worst (fuel) case scenario, then has extra safety when I run it hard on super.

Makes sense why its an issue for classics with metal lines and tanks then. Luckily its never in the system too long on this, injectors are pretty much throw being a Renault lol and it has a plastic tank like most modern cars. The fuel lines are primarily plastic, its only at the top in the bay where I use the rubber.

Meg powered Dauphine, dual engine Twingo, two meg blocks mated together to make a "V8"...the possibilities are endless.

If my skills (and budget) were higher the idea in the back of my head forever has been a RWD Twingo in the style of the old Clio V6.

The new twingo is mid engine rear drive

Proper mess in there, functional though. I may move to a side mounted header tank, that said the current one though tight isn't causing an issue.

I disagree, i think the way you have all the fuel lines looks very smart. I will be happy if mine looks anything like that
