5 GT Turbo Abandoned in 2003, going for a big save/restoration

Still chipping away at it. Fit the wobbly rear bump strip that I must change for a new one, one day.

All of the exterior is now re fitted, minus the sunroof

I then need to fit all the inner door electrics and furniture

Re stick cloth to the rear quarter trims, retrim seats, clean the hell out of the interior.

Next job, wheel refurbs.... View attachment 200441View attachment 200442View attachment 200443View attachment 200444
looks absolutely banging mate! Well done!

Not much going on. Been trying to get seat covers, bump strips and a bonnet matt from abroad. No luck yet

So I completely rebuilt the sun roof

Got it all fitted and resealed with genuine renault seal to the roof (pics to follow)

Got a new pair of window motors and regs fitted DSC_1086.webp

Both windows now in, working along with Central locking 👌🏻

I got out my brand new plip and receiver to see it wasn't working and broken inside! Need to find someone to solder and repair it for me

Trying to find a company locally to me to reattach my rear quarter cloths

Also found out my azevs dont fit! They catch the rear calipers! So I need to see if a 5mm spacer works on the rear. I haven't tried the fronts yet, was to pissed off. No marks on the to tell me the offset annoyingly

The plan was to throw these on while I refurb the turbines

Picked up a brand new parcel shelf again, my 4th one

I now have all the electrics working, other than remote plip. I have a couple others and they are playing up as well. Need to find someone to take a look at them. Got the roof airiel fitted and enjoyed sitting in the drivers seat listening to the brand new radio the other day, reminiscing!

Going to try and finish off the rebuilding of the doors this weekend. Then not a lot left to do!

Are the wheels catching the caliper on the edge of the carrier? Usually it's only a couple of mm, I had this on a 21 Turbo back in the day so I just chamfered a bit off the wheel lol

i think so, its quite close. i spoke to someone else with a set and they ground back the caliper brackets. I dont fancy that! hoping a pair of 5mm spacers do the trick. They'll only be fitted every so often

Azevs need a spacer on the rears so the caliper carrier does not catch. When i fitted a set to Benj's we ran spacers temporarily then got the rim machined for more clearance.
i'd much prefer that than spacers or touching the carriers
wonder if my local engineering firm would do it for me...hmmm

If they can fit the wheel in the lathe they should be able to do it easy. Only needs a fanny hair removing for clearance.

Bored. Waiting for stuff to arrive and the trimmers
I went to fit the drivers front glass, to then notice it was clear and not green tint. Never even noticed when I bought the car all those years ago.

So I have a new genuine glass on its wait from italy. Haven't had much success with parts arriving intact from their, so fingers crossed

Also struck gold with a new rear bumper stripDSC_1170.webp

No more wobbly one!

Also, I picked up 4 brand new genuine spare wheels. I'll use one for this car and one for the ph1. That saves powder coating my old ones 😂

Also 4 new genuine clio Williams spares/cup rims

Still not much happening

Then the new genuine spare wheel to nos tyre

Finally got the rear quarter trims back flocked. 2 other companies were supposed to retrim them and failed.

And I have now finally got the car to work to finish the list of things to do with the luxury of a ramp!

MY clio turbines are in for refurb
i can't decide on whether to go 45 or 50 profile tyres. Reason being, my torsion bar ride height isnt that low and the front is only a -30mm drop

50 profile that was on them fills the arches ok, but obviously raises the car slightly. But 45 profile may give me major arch gappage. I can't decide which to get?

any pics or what would you do?

If the tyres arent catching anywhere stick with 50profile, as better tyre choice and more compliant ride. We used to run 45 years ago when slammed for more clearance, but no decent tyre choices in 45.

Id go for 195/50/15 michelin pilotsport 3.
