Rear suspension pickup on one side done, only very temporary to transport car but pickup position right and important. Will prob a gusset but very little weight on it
Monday evening madness.......all weekend making front garden fence and installing so no garage time or energy left (still hurting lol).
So tonight started to building front end up but realised need some more better suited length bolts and additional washers so turned attention to rear toe links, stripped and prepped to tack to spaceframe (no pic).
Then moment of truth and time to remove spaceframe and rough fit engine and box on it as final check for clearance and potential positioning of engine and box mount, had a line up of a spare mount I had and some alu block have cut from previous project and could work.....then bit of extra inner arch out as suspension pickup meant it was not coming out clean without lifting car of chassis stand.
Result is it fits other than aircon pump but knew this already and my own upgraded design wishbones will give some additional clearance, engine needs to rotate backwards as per picture but remember top bar is not straight so makes it look more excessive than it is.
Driveshaft angles look within happy zone but will do a more detailed check and of course fine tweak engine position to help if needed.
Nothing exciting but can't have too many pics of the 5 pot and dsg next to its new home in the 5 so here is an excessive amount
Your very unexciting Tuesday evening update, quick run to local hardware store which has old school pick and mix of bolts, washers, nuts and other useful bits and bobs
Rear spaceframe back on, front o/s wishbone etc on, started to get very rough rear toe setting but just like that couple hours gone.
Hope to share some more interesting pics as the week and weekend arrives.....
Car going back on its own wheels and having a road trip
Seem to have lost previous update but anyway about 5 odd hours getting trailer, loading car, engine, roll cage bars, getting doors on bla bla bla knackered
Bit more to do early before off to @Mark_L for my roll cage requirements
