Thought I would share a small update to keep you all going while awaiting the joys of spring

Sustained quality work by @Mark_L and really impressed with his super skills & hard work 👌

Soooo first in non picture flavour update

My original 2 plans for converting the DSG (DQ500) to 2wd both got a professional option from Mark's friend who concluded it would work with my option 1 of the short drive shaft flange with a snap ring groove machined in the end of the spline area......this def the easy option I hoped for. 🎉

However as usual I could not help but to over think (as I do lol) and push option 2 thoughts, so got Mark to torture him while there with my questions and views on using the shaft out the transfer box, and rework something with the adaptor plate.....bingo!

Final conclusion this is the best option and can poss even retain/reuse the OEM needle bearings in the transfer box and few custom bits should be super good. Mark & I agreed also so this is what will be done....while not critical on mid engine/rwd with unequal driveshafts does mean not having such a long driveshaft and can reuse Audi inner so added bonus

Then lots of Mark skills getting below pics into reality.....my madness and his skills we are dangerous 😜👌👌

I had planned to use the latest revision OEM rs3 bottom gearbox pendulum mount/brack....lines up with the spaceframe like it was meant to be there

Lots of back and forth on frame mount to connect and Mark came up with his idea to use some Nilatron bushes and turned and nice bit of tube to house

While Mark is finishing the mounts and suspension pickups...damn they look good. I went crazy and ordered a black forest industries stg2 mount.....gearbox is reusing a vibra technics mount but prob change to comp spec of the same and nothing moving....might shake the 5 apart mind lol. Can always go road spec on both of too much

Bottom rear section will be removable to allow spaceframe to drop out for the engine/box to drop out complete with suspension etc for any maintenance (or upgrades 😁) - using 4 of these

Then onto front cage and side bars, wanted the bars as close to the car and good road use access with max strength, trying to retain 5 dash without too much surgery and of course look super cool. Mark continues to deliver👌and sure loves my 4 million messages on ever step 🤔😁
