So between Friday night and today I have made some good progress with pretty satisfying results,
so Friday night first job got the fuel tank fitted back under the car and pulled the loom into place. Looked at rigging up the fuel pump and filter but the brackets weren’t right. I’ve found another bracket since, need to revisit.
got the exhaust fitted front to back, it fits very well which I am happy about, I want to add a hanger towards the front around the subframe.
on the subject of support I am planning to bracket from the gearbox up to the turbo also. I’ll probs make the actuator bracket at the same time out of alloy I think.
today I went and got the missing driveshaft and also some interior plastics from the other storage unit and cracked on from about mid day.
fitted the rear near side hub/bearing/disc and caliper from the 172 stuff. Fitted the rear shocks I bought last year. Polished the tip of the back box with a Brillo pad and stuck the wheels on and dropped the rear on the ground.
fitted the NS front drive shaft that I had misplaced meaning I could again fit the wheels and put the front of the car on the ground. I fitted the steering wheel boss and OMP wheel I bought a couple of months ago ago. With the rack bushes I fitted a couple of months ago it’s nice to have the steering fully fitted and “tight” for the first time.
fitted the interior plastics, seat belts bolted in. Marked and drilled the other holes needed to bolt the seats in fully so bunged those in.
I then fitted all my painted trims and the bumpers. The front will have to come back off but I couldn’t resist just to get a look see
these could be slightly darker I think, but they are fine for just now and I’m buzzing at getting this looking like a car again!
made a couple of tabs to secure the radiator and started fitting hoses with jubilees where I could, had a full day at it but next time I’m out I’m gonna get the y-pieces for then expansion tank put in and the heater pipes secured.
feeling very good about all that stuff, need to buy some odd t bar clamps, jubilees, some this and that to get the next bit of the final fix done.
in line brake valves and I can get the brak system finished, handbrake cables too.
sort out mounts for the filter and pump and the fuel system is finished.
bottle location fixed and cooling system will be done.
suspension/steering is fitted/finalised
need to buy a straight carb lobster and some 150mm silicone straights and the boost run can be installed.
I need to clean up and fit alternator, needs a new belt.
plenty to do but the jobs are getting smaller,
we’ll happy,
got a new toy in exchange for fitting a timing belt to a ford zetec engine on a stand, 15min job,

Useful thing and glad to have it but I need more fucking space! Haha
Cheers,
