I had about 10 days off week before last,
Brought the car up the road to the house so I can put the time in over winter more easily.
First weekend I sanded back and painted some of the interior around the rear window and the boot plinth.
Fitted the glass and the door seals/latches
Door cards are back on, I need new window seals to tidy it up one side is really nasty.
Moved all the parts up aswell so now there’s a corner chocked full of plastic boxes etc.
Next thing i wanted to do was get the engine and box back in the car. But having decided to look at a cam and turbo I needed to do a bit of a freshen up on the engine first.
I got new rings and shells from
@Turbell, in the end I went for the prima racing cam from eBay, looked for a vernier pulley for a week, but came up with nothing (second hand)
Small crank seal, new timing chain and tensioner full gasket set and a set of head bolts.
The water jackets and the head got a cleaning out, I’m glad I did open this now as it was getting a bit foosty sitting for years, I didn’t go mad but cleared some gunk.
The block got a very quick spray of black paint to get rid of the blue before it got built back up.
Honed the cylinders, cleaned up all the internals fitted all the new gear and built it back up.
So that’s now built and ready to be fitted with auxiliaries and gearbox and it can go in the car. I’ve got new steering rack bushes to go on first.
Because it’s getting fucking freezing outside I brought the carb inside and stripped it down with the help of the guide on here, cheers

I’m gonna take the carb to work and put it in the ultrasonic cleaner on sat, I’ve also go to swap the front hub flanges over with the press...
Because I’ve bought a full set of discs/calipers off a clio 172
Full set of braided lines too.
To fit the fronts I need to swap the 172 hub flange for the “original” clio 16v flange. And the hubs needed a shaving on each side at the shock mounts 25mm down to 22mm or there abouts.
Last thing was i wanted to get some seats to pretty much finish the inside to be honest, I do need a steering wheel boss for a 5. If anyone has one ?

Used condition. But not terrible. And fine money for what they are.
I’m trying to keep this as cheap as poss, “in stock” as per the title only goes so far and I’ve changed some of that set up anyway haha I budgeted the car and things like the seats, brakes and engine have all come in cheaper than I’d hoped so its all good. Although I do feel like I’ve spend a shed load of cash.
The seats sit a bit low, need some box section to bring them up a bit. But they came with mounts aswell and there’s a little left in those. It’ll be good to get them in. If I can find a bit of steel I’ll do it on Sunday.
