Alpine R8 GT Turbo Too?

Whats ignition map like on your microsquirt? Is it on a base map or a suitable map for c1j? Get a knock box hooked up if planning on doing some pulls especially if you have not lowered the compression to suit.

Also afr gauge hooked up so you know what the carburettor is doing.

i'm using an ignition map someone on the forum posted. Values at atmo and 10 psi agree with those from a C1J manual at 1000 and 3000 rpm. I have an inexpensive Knocksense box I'll try out. I also have an AFR system which I plan to datalog. And I'll go easy while trying to avoid knocking.

Did some acceleration runs in 1st and 2nd gear on level ground. The MAP reading increased with rpm from about 50 KPa at idle but never topped 100 KPa. My butt dyno didn't feel the added power. Bad turbo or what?

The actuator is set at 5psi. I tested it with compressed air. I checked and it is still closed at idle.
You wont see much boost with the actuator set at 5psi especially with pressure drop through the intercooler. Stock gtt is set more than that around 10psi from memory. Actuator needs at least half a hole preload and should be closed unless on boost.

I used the 5psi spring in the actuator to be on the safe side while checking out my 9:1 C3J motor with turbo. Quoting Mr Swan when I started this build, "There are many paths to destruction!". The actuator rod is preloaded by half a hole. I can increase the preload and up the the release pressure to 7psi without changing springs. I'll try that first, less work than changing the spring.

Have you got into 3rd or 4th gear to see if it’s working. Or left foot brake in 2nd gear at 3000rpm and increase throttle opening you should then see boost.

Have you got a way or seeing the AFR’s?

I was getting ready to try a few more acceleration run and my starter died. So I'll wait until I can get a new one installed.

Yes I have an AFR guage. It was running slightly lean, 15.5, but I really wasn't paying much attention to it.

That doesn't look good. I'm no turbo expert, the other guys expressing an interest here are much more experienced than me. Looks like you have a suspect tho.

Any restriction no oil feed to turbo/return to sump? Assume a journal bearing not ball bearing turbo?

Looks like could be turbo oil seal leaking 😕

There is oil in the feed and return lines and I'm using recommended hose diameters. Oil pressure is 75 psi cold with 20w-50 synthetic. Journal bearing Garrett T2 turbo.
