5 GT Turbo R5 GT Turbo - Complete strip down and re-build #1

Exactly the same thing happened to me with the stem oil seals, i used a socket and found that if you hit it too hard, the top breaks on the seal. Except I didn't put that in my thread. I usually don't run them, but the guy really wanted them.
I'll have some rivets off you if you've got 98 going spare....
Send me your address mate, I’ll pop some in the post!

Any progress @Chris74# ??
Sorry guys, Life has decided to take a giant dump at my door bringing 5 fun time almost to a complete stand still! In fact I have had to consider selling it as it is, but hopefully it won't come to that! I did manage to get the cylinder head reassembled after getting more valve stem seals, I have put the main parts of the engine back together loosely, mainly to keep the dust and crap out and just for something to do on it!

Work has stopped for now, but will hopefully be back on Mar-Apr?? or up for sale - one or the other!! :(

Hey man I don't suppose if you get a chance could you take a picture of the wiring on the alternator my engine bay loom not in the best of shapes, if you could thanks 🙏

Good evening all, I have made the decision to push on with the rebuild, albeit in a slightly different way. I was reading a book during the week and a Churchill reference was used which seems to have hit me - "Perfection is the enemy of progress" So due to current situation I am going to get as much of the cr back together and get the engine finished and in over the coming months. At least then I can enjoy the car while waiting to get the finishing touches i.e interior completed! So with that in mind,

Stunning work mate, I need to get cracking on mine. Out of interest where did you get the rollover jig from as I am looking to purchase one similar

Hi @brayboy, welcome to Turborenault. Just so you know, I could never have got as far as I have without this forum and the brilliant members and their 1st class advice and support!

I bought the rollover jig from a friend but I hear that rolloverjigs.com do vehicle specific jigs, or you could buy one off eBay and bastardise it to suit. That’s what I did with mine.

I am just up the road from you, so if you need any help drop me a line 👍🏻 Good luck with the resto, I look forward to following your journey!!
