5 GT Turbo project 4 years and counting

Cheers mate I’m still in two minds tbh just seems a shame get rid of the c1j the amount of money I’ve thrown into it but just dosnt want to run right on efi and looking at your past builds aswell I just wonder do people actually hammer these little engines as I have never seen them to be any form of reliable if they do

Yes mate had it all stripped down change all sensors etc for genuine ones coil pack leads had the manifold apart resealed properly 2 sets of new injectors, pulled the head off checked valves etc no damage, compression tested. Engine had full rebuild before it was fitted but never ran it on the carb so I don’t know wether it’s down to the efi or engine problems ..... 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

I agree it does add up doing a swap, you go into it with a rough amount in your head but that is never the full story. There is always £20 here and there that end up into the £100’s before long.

You’ll probably get a decent amount back for your C1J stuff though to get the ball rolling.

That’s frustrating with the misfire, couldn’t Chris @ EFI help out with that ?

That’s bizarre, I had a similar thing with my C1J on cylinder three but like you changed all the sensors and it seemed to clear it up. I tried lots of different plugs too until I settled on BR9EG

Yeh tried about 4 sets of plugs even, genuine ford TPS genuine Bosch coil pack new leads shame I never had it running on a carb to atleast narrow it down a little

Cheers mate think I’m gonna go for some pikey build.....running engine change belts bolt the turbo to it and get chris map it low boost 🤣🤣I’ll be happy with 230hp The Clio lads have done it with good results I’m sure James did a Clio 182 also and flogged it on

Indeed i did do a low boost 182, using megane 225 parts including buying the 182 prob cost me £3.2k to do it all, I could prob have saved a bit buy getting a cheaper intercooler setup but I liked the one pipework.

Low boost is pretty good defo gives the f4r a kick that it needed from factory.

Right so turbo I’ve got some sort of t28 roller bearing unit atm I couldn’t tell you spec ect but I’m guessing it’s been messed with to suit a smaller engine. Would this be ok to use for the power I want or flog that on and get somthing else ???

The slippery slope begins ;-)

If it’s similar to a gt2560r then I made 230-240 with one of those on C1J. Is there no markings on the housings/core ?

I’ll have a look and take some pics tonight I’m only looking for low boost atm but I’d be disappointed with anything less than 230bhp

So the turbo I’ve got is a t28 full roller bearing with a 0.64 rear I think that be any good for a f4r or to small ???

Be fine most of the ED low boost kits run a cheap Chinese turbo with .64 rear with custom map scoff gets them to around 240-260bhp
