Phil's AMC GTA

It's a bit of a distance off but there's just a few things stopping me from putting it on the road.

Think it may take a coin-toss on the interior though, I'm still figuring stripping it down to a minimum, new seats up front with nothing in the back but a cage.
The interior plastic is brittle and crispy due to age, it keeps on breaking off.

Once I get it going I'll stick videos up. I replaced the exhaust with a piece of scaffold tube. It sounds buzzy and horrible right now, it rasps like a Morris Minor on over-run lol

--Phil

The rasp is due to the exhaust being as follows:

[Engine]-[Manifold]-[downpipe]-[24" cherry bomb]-[rear bends]-[3' of scaffold tube]

Ghetto.

I need to replace the scaffold tube with a real silencer. Doesn't help that it doesn't have the correct kink to it so it is currently ziptied to the rear towing eye...

Try the pvc pipe. And yes I'm serious. Its actually starting to get more popular these days. Its acoustically dead.

Zip tie is an industry accepted method of mounting anything

Fair 'nuff

I'll give it a try. I don't think it'll do a whole lot though.

That's it right now

By then it'll be acoustically quieter because the end of the tailpipe would be a size suitable for a moped :D

I'm going to do it properly, either way

--Phil

fpmsl, that doesn't usually happen.

we used to shove pvc pipe over truck exhausts etc on the workshop to quieten them.

I think you should angle it up like those silly jap cars, the car would suit an exhaust stack...

Bosozuko Renault! ha

That and the tiny wheels, big arches and long overhang on the front. the car's square enough, it'd probably carry it off well.

But no

Rally colours. Might not have the performance to match but it's close to that of the 1.4 turbos used by Renault in the 80's

;)
