Newbie from Manchester

I don't think so. Would need to check. I take it that's not part of the standard cambelt service, rather something that's advised whilst it's all in bits?

Yes mate, while its all apart makes sense.

My cambelt was done 3 years ago, genuine full kit including water pump and genuine renault clutch for £1350.

Just a quick one gents. What are the general opinions as to whether the lack of service history (i.e. the previous owner servicing based upon mileage rather than age resulting in only 3 stamps) will affect future value of the car if I get a full cambelt, clutch and all fluid change service done straight away?

No it's a more long term purchase. I'm more trying to gauge how other people view this type of servicing approach and whether that makes the car less collectable?

If you are planning a big overhaul on the car you are buying then i would say service history is less important. Ideally i will always look for a detailed history, however if you are planning on getting a major service carried out plus extra's, I wouldnt worry quite so much as a future buyer knowing that the big work has been completed. Service history will always be a bonus but it isnt the be all and end all IF you plan on doing all the major work during your ownership.

If you find a car with a lack of history and are happy with the way it feels and drives, use that as a bargaining tool BUT make sure you get EVERYTHING checked and serviced/replaced as soon as you have bought it.

Was put on Renault database from new as V60 HOT

To be honest i think its worth a punt! Certainly worth having a look and seeing how it drives etc. On the basis that you are going to have a major service carried out then i think 7k is reasonable and then budget £1500 for full cambelt, aux belt, oil, plugs, filters and new clutch. Car would owe you 8.5k and would certainly be worth that to sell on if tidy!

Thanks to James reminding me, i remember seeing this car before.

It used to live on the Mychett road in Surrey (infact its still there on google street view!). I flyered the car to try and get the owner to come on here, but i dont think he ever did. I never saw it move, but apart from a little dust and grime it looked in good nick.

It obviously had a positive impact locally as someone slightly further down the road now has one!

Hahaha.. I thought it looked familiar too! Now I know why.. lol I've not been over in the Mychett area for ages, so needless to say, I hadnt noticed its disappearance! 8)

So, I've read the knowledge section and have checked the car dimensions but looking for a little reassurance from those in the know that these cars will actually fit in a standard garage? I'm going to measure up the garage later but from when the door was bought I seem to remember it being a standard 6foot 6inch door and a fairly conventional sized actual floor space. It's in a row of garages so is just a conventional size.

Technically a Phase 2 (the widest) should fit with around 75mm each side through the door opening and opening up a little once in there but looking for a little reassurance from other peoples experiences?

My garage door is 2115mm wide (approx 6'11") and my old Vee fit

You may have more of an issue getting in & out due to the depth of the cills

You wil be fine pal. My vee fits in our garage with no issue ans ours is a standard size garage. A tad narrow going in through the door but its no issue. will be fine, just dont put on any weight orelse getting in and out may get more challenging lol

Ok. Good to know gents. We can get our Mk6 Edition 35 Gti in the garage and it's a pretty sizeable lump. Over 2m wide with the mirrors out and to be honest, folding the mirrors doesn't reduce the size as much as you'd hope!
