Newbie from Manchester

Looks like a quicksilver exhaust on it and the boot badges have been off at some point, looks pretty standard otherwise.

Was wondering what exhaust it was. A decent bit of kit? The different colour boot badge made me a little nervous? Like it'd had a rear ender, hence that and the exhaust change?

The black boot badge is typical for the age, there are three diffferent ones they used on the phase ones. There is no sign of rear end damage. Very strang modification to the bumper around the exhaust though, I guess they have done it to stop the quicksilver from melting it?

The quicksilver looks quite nice but the noise is an aquired taste (boomy and blooming loud) and not the most neighbour friendly.

The panel gaps round the rest of the car look pretty spot on from what I can see on that ad. Alot of car for the money, that's for sure!!!

Thanks for the informed opinion gents. I fruity exhaust is OK with me as long as the quality is good. As for the exhaust surround. I suspect I'll get the exhaust adjusted and remove the protection so its more OEM.

On the face of it I'm tempted at the price I've negotiated with them as long as the HPI stacks up.

There are a couple of very small kerb marks around the rear wheels but they're very minor. Would have the full set refinished anyway.

Is the colour of the dash standard. Thought phase 1 had a blue dash?

Find out its VIN number or plaque number if you can. The car isn't known on the Renault database with WJ51 FPT.

It's been spotted in Fleet, Mytchett, and Farnborough over the past few years.

Sorry I meant the Renault and Sport badge looks out of position.

So at the moment it's all looking fairly reasonable If I accept that it's going to need £1500+ spending as soon as I get it. In honesty, the peace of mind of having it all serviced myself and making sure everything is perfect does appeal, given I've negotiated most of the cost off the buying price.

So about the dashboard, is that standard Phase 2? Doesn't look as blue as some?

First tweak will be a different steering wheel. I take it a Phase 2 V6 or Clio Trophy one is a straight swap?

First thing I need to do is become a fully paid member actually! [cmilie=iconcheers.gif]

Sorry a picture of the interior would help! Is that a stock dashboard in a Vee?

Standard spec interior by the look of it. You're right, it doesnt look as blue, but then neither do the seats either. Camera.?

Probably. You can see in the background (against the BMW) that the exposure is a bit wonky. :)

So what size tyres to Phase 1's run?

Chris, just out of interest how much did Birchdown quote you?

I have been using Birchdown for the past 2 years for the vee and trophy 182 and they are bloody awesome!!

Good luck with your search.

Birchdown quoted £1300 all in for a very thorough full cambelt service. To be honest, cost is a limited factor as I'd trust the Birchdown boys with any of my cars. They're properly excellent, as you'll know! :)
