My Renault 5 1.7 GTX Thread

After a little help with the circuitry for the interior fan. Just received a new fan from ebay. Fan works fine connected to the battery, but not when installed. No fuses are blown. I measured approx 12v at the terminals for the fan. When i toggled the fan speed controls the voltage dropped. What is going on????

@DaveL485 Looking through other threads, you might know whats going on?

If there is voltage at the terminals for the fan wiring, it has to be a bad connection between the fan and wiring.

Ive read that you can get voltage, but no current if the rheostat fuse has blown....which is another full dash removal i think!!!!!

Can you bridge out the rheostat? Either just the thermal fuse or the whole thing...not sure where it sits on the 5 access wise.
I think its inside the heater box, which is a PITA! Atleast, i can see a coil from above where the fan sits, but i dont think you can access it without removing!

Got some new air hoses from ebay to replace the very tatty looking ones, I think these look decent enough. The fuse has arrived to fix the blower, so that will be to do in the next few days! 😢

@DaveL485 I searched the part number, and it seems to be a vacuum reservoir. Glad a pulled it out as the hose has split :)
7700740002

It just seems to be an empty sphere with a single hose line

Thats another job done .... dash out, heater box out, dismantled with new fuse ready to fit, only to find there was no fuse!
Looks like mine is the type without a fuse, so, i wondered for a little, then decided that the huge amound of rust on the terminals wouldnt help. Got out the multimeter and confirmed conductivity issues, so cleaned up the terminals with a dremel. Applied to WD40 and put it all back together. Put in enough dash to test and.......it worked! :D

So, if you have a non working internal blower, and everything looks fine, it could be the terminals on the rheostat.

So, my rear wiper doesnt work correctly. When I press the button in moves about a third of its cycle and stops, then moves a bit more, and finally the last third.

Would that be a faulty wiper relay, the Klaxon 54616, or something else?
