Thank you Big Steve - Raider ! In fact, I made everything in a small steel garage .. in the backyard
I took the wire which I bent around the Turbo and bolted it to an engine without turbo to evaluate the fitment with Turbo.
The right side was good but one the left side i could see that the space for the
downpipe will be very tight.
Downpipe: In the past i always had problems with the
downpipe being to close to other parts of the car.
I made a simulation and found out that up to approx. 240kW a 63,5mm diameter
downpipe is sufficient so i decided to go with this size.
I decided to take the stock n/a
exhaust manifold and build a fixture with guides made out of welding rods to indicate the out most shapes.
This way I made sure that the downpipe will be centred and I could use the stock catalytic converter. (I changed it later to metal one)
I left 2 weld joints unwelded.. readjusted the pipe in the car and welded the 2 remaining joints.
Fitment was perfect this way.
Better welding joints as promised.
