5 GT Turbo Low mileage, 1 previous owner, pearl PH1

Had some spare time this morning, I don’t get a lot of time to myself atm, what with work, childcare, building furniture etc.....but the I have been eager to clean the 5, quick polish and wax...

Started off with a heavily leaking jet wash...

Ready for some snow foam and brushed down..

Jet washed the snow foam, the set about cleaning the wheels - forgot to photo this stage, but they weren’t to bad.

Then I clean the car down and rinsed, dried, then I hit the body work and wheels with bilt hamber korrosol- overall it showed the pint hadnt been carrying to much contamination :).

So quick wash and clay mitt again follow ed by drying (forgot to photo but nothing major to report.

Then I got the trusty DA polisher out, only with a black pad as it was only going to be a quick fly over, I masked the up the car and get to work. You can really notice the flek in the paint work, but very hard to photo and as time was limited I didn’t take no photos, this was followed up with a layer of collinete 456 wax.

The end result

Nothing a bit of time and money cannot fix.

Worth fixing though ? I am not so sure.

Tbh I think I will just clean them up and live with the blemishes... all very minor stuff and you have to be looking for them, some are only noticeable at certain angles... if I can get a 2nd set of mirrors I will get them painted but will try and keep the texture rather than go smooth... I think the mirrors only had a light dusting of paint, on a lot of pearls they are left black...

Today I went to a local classic car show at rare breeds centre in Ashford, was a nice day out, various cars on show, I saw a lovely A610, the owner was a nice chap, don’t think he is a member of the forum however.

The 5 was parked was parked to a nice VW Golf mk1 GTi, a very nice car, and a Vauxhall Astra GTE was also nearby, so some different hot hatches, but some very nice cars.

The 5 got lots of attention and compliments, so overall was a nice day out, had my daughter Amelia with me, she loved the 5.

Had some time today, took the old girl for a small drive just to keep things ticking over, I need to source a rear wheel bearing (anybody know they are still available from Renault), went through the paperwork under the seat and found the original bill of sale, finance agreement & pre delivery inspection paperwork.... happy days indeed.

The carcoon is doing its job, paintwork is still dust free, no surface rust on the brake discs... and it’s not leaking oil :).

Wired in the trickle charger so I don’t have to keep disconnecting the battery to put on charge, so that should make life much easier :).

Spoke to George at RTR racing, he can source discs and pads all round with SNR bearings, delivered for £155... happy days, saved me the hassle of sourcing bits individually.

Next to order tyres, book in wheel refurb, oil and filter change and coolant flushed... will be done for Blyton :)
