[House build thread] Andy’s house ( not from scratch )

After speaking to few guys on the TurboRenault WhatsApp group of win we established that a house build thread could be interesting.

At the end of October I sold my 4 bed detached house and as a family we moved in to my parents. Reason being there was an issue with land on the place we were trying to buy.

Fast forward to 30 NOV 22 and we exchanged and completed.

I’ll try and do a build thread as we go along.

This is the outside of the house

It’s a converted barn that was originally built in the very early 1800s and modified into a house in ~2011.

It needs some love and attention. Who better than Family Bond to give it that?

I’ll detail as we go through the rooms changing things.

Family lived in it.

Never decorated.

Family split up , single gent lined in it for 18mo on his own.

It’s not bad, just not quite upto spec

Lounge. Needs flue cleaning and firebricks are damaged. Wood is yellow off white.


Stairs and landing are “fine”. I want the antler light to come down. It’s too bloody high!

This is wife Bond and I temporary room. We are having the next picture painted ASAP.

That was my requirement. Double garage with space to walk around the side with two cars in

Rest was arbitrary

This morning while having a brew I have removed a cracked panel heater from the wall.

It’s blown the plaster behind ( doh ) but I have a man that can coming tomorrow to sort some other plaster so I’ll ask very nicely if he can make up a tiny bit more ..
