Hands up who has a 21 as a daily driver.

Ran my ph2 tungy for a year as a commuting tool and runaround, It would travel to work flat out and on the wrong side of the road most of the way, but still give me 40 mpg on the way home. Servicing costs were negligable, so long as you have a general knowhow and a decent box o'spanners. Power was too good for my subframe, so started again with a ?100 shell with no engine and started pretty much from scratch......
Love em'

Ah man that sounds nice to start from scratch with one.

I truly dont want one off the road ide rather have one on the road and do bit by bit.

So it seems like if ya not a total speed freak these thinggs shouldnt cost ya too much.

The main things that are now obsolete at the dealers are headlights, quadra rear brake discs and I think ph2 clutch hydraulic systems.

we have a Tungsten Mk1 that is our daily driver. The MOT just cost us ?40 for a pair of rear springs and ?10 for some rear pads. My good lady uses it most of the time as I use a van for work and she gets 29 - 31 mpg knocking around but on a run at 80ish we get 36mpg so its not too bad. Being an older fart (me not her I am a lucky man!) insurance is a bargain at ?140 fully comp so all in all cheap motoring.

It really isn't a load of bull. It's all down to the cars history and how well you take care of it. I've had to 19 16v's before my 21t both cost me a lot in the beginning due to careless previous owners, but once I had fixed the problems I started to get reliability in return. The 21t still suffers from the previous owner syndrome and I also had a run of bad luck with a workshop, but that's not the cars fault. An M3 that has been driven like it was stolen everyday and everywhere with no service wouldn't be very reliable either. It's all down to previous owners..

My M3 has Full main dealer service history, by the dealer that sold the car. The problem with my one is, the guy I bought it off hadnt had to spend any money on it, in the 8 years he owned. As I drove it away, I thought....hmmm its my turn to spend now lol
He spent all he had to, he didnt really maintain it. However like my 21, I dont mind spending my wages on my car, I dont gamble, I drink socially not heavily, I dont do drugs, cant be bothered to go on holiday as I get bored too easily.....dont go to football as Arsenal are ?75 per ticket, plus food and travel............my car is my vice, and I'm happy knowing, the clutch, flywheel, suspension etc are all new and genuine parts not recon crap.

My E-plate was the same, it had been looked after mechanically, my F-plate, was clean to look at, but had NO HISTORY lol and was bought in an underground by a very desperate me pmsl

I'm probably a bit slow, but I can't tell if you're agreeing with me or not.. :icon_rolleyes::icon_redface::icon_confused:

I use Renault 21 TXi 12V as my daily driver, but this year is the last, in the next year it will be used just for weekend trips, because it's too expensive to drive as a daily driver.
