show of hands.

Then if possible price up your parts bought for servicing this year. Dont include Uprated turbo unless yours shot it. Ie Only parts deemed nessecary to keep 21 on road.

"You may fire when ready"

Did have for many years. '98 to '04 and '05 to '08.

Varied from <?250 to >?2000 depending on year....

Mine was a daily driver from November 2001 till October 2005. Up untill then it owed me about ?300 in brakes, ?70 in Alternators, ?20 in starter motor and ?120ish for a clutch. Oh ?100 in tyres. Everything else I spent on was for improvement or enhancement.
Then I cracked a liner in it, and it stood for three years, back on the road May this year and so far owes me nothing, Plug leads soon i think. About ?30-?40 fuel a week. Using it as a daily now until I get the Range Rover on the road.

I have a black 21 Ti 1988 E plater as my daily driver - mint black paintwork and mint interior. in fact its just mint, and all for ?200. Although I will be getting rid of soon as company car is looming.

i've had my car just over a 2 weeks and i use mine as a daily car it costs me around ?40 - ?60 a week in petrol!! its using a lot more now because of cracked manifold really struggling to get hold of one, but ive serviced it, which cost me ?20 inc fitting etc from a pal who owns a garage he also replaced my driveshaft oil seals ?10 inc seals, also done a little bit of welding on my sills aswell free of charge :icon_biggrin:

mine is a daily, if your not stupid then they dont really cause too much fuss..people moan about their cars being unreliable..which is a load of bull really.

my old man never had our phase 1 break down in the whole 20years of ownership - until it met its match with a metal bollard/brickwall/lamp post :-(

current phase 2 is still going strong, generally petrol - which again if driven well can get upto 40mpg (motorway driving), tyres - this be down to the stupid amount of road tax that obviously gets spent on road surfacing/cleaning...yeah right

otherwise discs and pads arent that bad if you look around

generally they are great cars for the money..

I use my red phase 1 as a daily it does 300 miles a week despite the gearbox mounts being shot and never lets me down. TOUCHWOOD

It really aint a load of bull. You get reliable cars and unreliable cars, right across the board. My E plater, was a dream till it met a splitarse in a Toyota Corolla, my F plater should have been set fire to after about a month of ownership. Craigs M3 has cost him about .30p to run so far, mine has cost me ?2.5k since August. Please dont mislead the man, Ive known plenty of 21 owners over the years who will always say 'go like **** off a shovel but aint very reliable'

You get 40mpg cos u wear BHS slippers everywhere u go, and put it in neutral at every opportunity.

Mine was a daily driver from 2002 to 2007, it then went on a sabbatical until last week when it passed its MoT after getting a fair bit of welding carried out.

Money wise to get it through its MoT, well basically if my 21 could speak it would have told me to drop my troosers and prepare for a good shafting !!!!

... but previous to that it was not bad to run, just the usual annual service parts, although its never that easy as there is always something that you want to change, but then thats my choice to do that i suppouse, i really dont mind pottering about on it ... lol

On a steady run on the dual carraigeway from Glasgow to Aberdeen sitting at a steady 65-70mph i get 34mpg tops ..... and thats being gentle up and down the gears ....
I think the Renault figures were 44mpg at 56mph .......... no danger .. lol .. i could'nt even get that if i was being towed by the AA !!! ..

i shud get discount for the amount of fuel i put in at shell! last month i think i put ?300 in!

My girfriends sister drove it once, she done me favour and picked my 21 up from the garage one time and thought she would fined out what this 21 turbo malarky was all about, so she floored it and nearly peed herself .. lolol ...

It really isn't a load of bull. It's all down to the cars history and how well you take care of it. I've had to 19 16v's before my 21t both cost me a lot in the beginning due to careless previous owners, but once I had fixed the problems I started to get reliability in return. The 21t still suffers from the previous owner syndrome and I also had a run of bad luck with a workshop, but that's not the cars fault. An M3 that has been driven like it was stolen everyday and everywhere with no service wouldn't be very reliable either. It's all down to previous owners..

Ran mine for 2.5 years as a daily driver , other than the consumables , petrol , oil , filters etc it cost me next to nowt.

I did have a clutch fork give up , a clutch pack in a water pump refuse to pump water , but thats about it ..
