5 GT Turbo GTT getting ready for the track.

I've written this once and my phone had a brain fart ffs. Anyway sound deadening 60% completed but found some more nastys under the oe tar deadening stuff. Unsure what to do about it? Also the nut sert that's in my hand for the front seat mount points have broken so does anybody know the size so I can make something better? ThanksWP_20160403_001.webp WP_20160403_002.webp WP_20160403_003.webp WP_20160403_004.webp WP_20160403_005.webp WP_20160403_006.webp WP_20160403_007.webp WP_20160403_008.webp WP_20160403_009.webp WP_20160403_011.webp

It looks like if you slip a small screw driver in between and have a little wiggle you will soon have an answer. Doesn't look bad other than that 1 little bit so pretty good really!

The clip in captive nuts if just replace with new. I may have some secondhand ones if you're stuck.
The rust, in the second to last pick you can see little scabs, gently tapping that area with a hammer from both sides and they'll crumble and come out. Get as much out as possible, not sure if that's the last pic? It doesn't look like it'll affect things structurally. If anything, drill a hole from the underside and spot weld it to the seat runner

Thanks haz I will have a look tomorrow see if I can get a plan of attack sorted.
My concern with captive nuts is that they seem weak, like even if brand new! Surely in a crash they would pull free from the rail?

My tent is sorted for blyton, I treated myself to a new 4man pop up Coleman from Costco. Takes about 12 seconds to set up and if anybody recalls my tent last year will agree that valuable drinking time was taken up by putting up of massive tent haha

Went into Costco recently and they had some garage floor matting that I may use if the polyurethane floor paint is now durable enough. They also had a nice low ish entry jack for a good price.WP_20160406_001.webp WP_20160406_002.webp WP_20160406_003.webp FB_20160406_22_26_40_Saved_Picture.webp

I have had a prod around the crusty bits and as i feared another hole! Only small and easier to sort.
Few more jobs done in the garage father in law changed the plug sockets for metal unit with RCD and also fit a new switch for bench spot lamps with fused housing.

Managed to fit rear seats and seat belts rear quarter panels and passenger side upper window surround. I'm still in need of rear upper window surround for drivers side if anybody can help.
Fit my new pedal covers and replaced the steering column bolts to shorter ones so clocks will fit nice.

I have also removed my GT tuning coolant pipe (basically the vacuum pipe) I removed it because I ordered a bigger diameter pipe as I had coolant leaking but I ordered the same size like a dick. Anyway I had some other coolant pipes with the shite leaky bleed nipples so I stripped the fitting and sikaflexed it in place so I hope it wont leak.

Them lamps are ace.

How red is that carpet ! top job mate.

Sad to say the carpet is much worse in the flesh! I was thinking of getting some fabric dye spray to just lightly spray on to make it look better. The lamps were from ebay about £10 each. They are actually outdoor lights they have a nice bright LED in them. We also converted the plug socket to a outdoor rcd type with cover and the lamps have independent switch that's also weather proof. Its probably a bit over kill but sure does make the place look tidier. WP_20160417_009.webp

Little progress update,

I've re written my list of "to do's" for blyton and made a start.

I need to get the small hole in the floor patched as a priority and it will be getting done after my holiday in may.

Last night I decided to do away with the gay looking boy racer tow strap and instead re fitted an original tow eye. Its the one that protruded through the bumper! But mine has not one on nor can it due to the fact somebody filled the hole with fibre glass. Anyway I removed the bumper and refitted the tow eye then proceeded to smash the fibreglass out of the bumper for the removable tow eye cover and the protruding tow eye. Both the holes were pure fibreglass so I need a cover for the N/S tow eye.

Obviously the bumper looks a mess now but it needs painting anyway so I not too bothered.

While the bumper was off I noticed the rad pipe that come from the bottom of the radiator was extremely squashed so I need to figure out a way to make more room. Would using a campus pully move the alternator enough to move the boot pipe over to allow the pipe to not be squashed?

Next thing I did was give the cossie cooler another coat of black and also made the silver oil cooler black.

A while ago I purchased the small brackets that sit behind the fogs that hold the bumper but had no idea how to fit them untill yesterday (see picture). Long story short I need to make the side mounting bolts to match and fit the lower mounting points. I also refit the osf wheel arch liner as tthe screw that holds it in place was loose.

Today I started to refit the steering rack boot nut luckly noticed the rack knuckle bolt was loose causing the play that I had, so I nipped that up and cleaned the rubber boot as I am going to permanatly seal it in place with sikaflex.

Hi people, the last week or so I have been doing little jobs that I kept putting off, I started by re mounting the oil cooler although its in the same position I brought the lines past the alternator rather than the nearside of radiator. Also mounted the intercooler further forward spacing with nuts on the bolts. I just hope the bumper will fit and not rub ! WP_20160423_005.webp WP_20160427_006.webp

image.webp image.webp image.webp image.webp image.webp image.webp image.webp image.webp image.webp image.webp image.webp Making a semi 'enclosed' air filter housing Need to finish the main hole for air filter at work on Tuesday. Also fitted my coolant pipe extender that I painted. I ordered a genuine Renault bumper support bracket last one he says so I will see on Wednesday if it turns up.

I'm saving for the last part of welding hence me doing all the little cheap jobs that I've been putting off!

This Air Filter mod is definitely something I want to do on my 5. All the little bits on your car are coming together now.

Managed to use a die grinder to make the hole a touch bigger as the hole saw I used was only 50mm and I needed 90mm although it's not as tidy as I was hoping I am chuffed with how it looks. I just need to file a few rough parts and finish painting the inner wing where it will sit. I firstly gave the OE holes a quick blast with some Hammerite metal primer and then I went over with a black aerosol but did not take any pictures of that. Also I have included a few pictures of it test fitted. Thanks for reading
