5 GT Turbo GTT getting ready for the track.

I wouldt worry about taking loads of spares matey. Ill have a few bits with me and so will the other lads if needs be. My van has loads of random spares in the cubby holes behind the front seats. Cant wait to try the straight pipe on the gtt =D

The cliosport and TurboRenault track day went well actually it was awesome.

The car performed well in fact it was me that let it down as just getting to grips with how fast to go around corner but it gripped really well on the federal 595 RSRs I did have an issue with engine temps as it seemed to keep rising slowly but higher than I expected. So I came off the track and had a look, I found the fan relay had burnt out so quickly put the horn relay in its place to get the fan working as quick as possible.
The starter motor then played up by not wanting to start when hot so I had to wait 20 mins to cool down a bit then o had to whack it with a bar and even that was still temperamental. That's two of slim shape starters that have failed me when I got home I replaced the starter with a massive started which I assume was the original starter.

It's saved me twice now so it's staying on its noisy, heavy and huge but it seems to be really reliable.
The only other issue I had was the exhaust snapped a support rubber so it started to drag on floor around the track but I was 1 corner from the pits so I did a temp repair and all is well.

I had a great evening with good food good company and a few drinks, I will defiantly go the event again.

Sweet, the track always brings out the gremlins as its the hardest a car is ever used, if you didnt have anything that crippled it you can be happy :)

lots of pictures no real order so sorry. many things have been changed swapped etc. also had some welding done that was a surprise as i found some tin worm in drivers footwell that was not expected at all! but that is sorted and slowly working through the issues. during the trackday i had overheating problems so i replaced the OE fan with aftermarket universal one that sits closer and has a shroud so cooling effecency will be improved also replaced fan relay aand fan switch from low temp to standard.

also while removing the dash to check the bulkhead for rot i found the sound deadning was wet from the tin worm in the floor and had worked its way up to the matting and while removing it from the bulkhead just fell apart. i was going to get another one but decided to use dynamat lite and dynapad to do the same or at least similer job. while the dash was out i plastic welded the frame of the centre section to add some ridgidety as 30 years and many removals had caused many breaks. anyway a picture speaks a thousand words and my spelling is shite.3574925A-DB6E-4D8D-A3FA-7CA77FE375B8_zpsli9mrv7m.webp AdobePhotoshopExpress_b311a2d738c547d585ef0bf5dbd2b689.webp ED1A79C2-F964-42BD-AB50-30CE40886126_zpsauga2ivv.webp FB_20151123_20_18_39_Saved_Picture.webp InstagramCapture_359807d9-e9ee-4244-b758-a5f92876f46d.webp InstagramCapture_cfc36b46-1106-43de-a8a6-48071ac46089.webp InstagramCapture_de70bbf0-d9dd-41f1-8dc4-71ffd626dff5.webp WP_20150906_15_17_36_Pro 1.webp WP_20151204_003.webp WP_20151220_005.webp WP_20151221_001.webp WP_20151228_001.webp WP_20160103_001.webp WP_20160115_018.webp WP_20160123_004.webp WP_20160123_005.webp WP_20160123_008.webp WP_20160123_010.webp WP_20160125_008.webp WP_20160125_011.webp WP_20160224_001.webp WP_20160224_002.webp WP_20160224_005.webp WP_20160226_002.webp WP_20160226_007.webp

Did you modify the bumper to have the slats in the number plate recess? I like it, much smarter than a lot of the cut outs! Nice looking car.

The bumper has been modified but not by me. I got the car with this bumper on it. They removed the upper section where the numberplate sits usually and fitted more grill from another front bumper. I think there is 1 more like this kicking around somewhere.

Something else that has kept me busy is my garage refurb. New build integral garage with dusty concrete floor and porus breeze block for internal walls so I pva bonded the floor and gave it a coat of polyurethane paint but not mega happy with floor but its alot better then before. Also painted breeze blocks white and replaced the single energy saving bulb with 2x 5ft led strip lights plus I have more lights on order. Small progress update.

Still in the process of sound deadening my floor with dynamat and dynapad its bloody expensive upto £200 so far which I hope is enough but then I still want to get some kind of foam of some sort to sit in each footwell just to bring the height up to where the oe stuff was. At least the carpet will have a little give without getting misshaped and the foam will be removable. Also got some new pedal rubbers from ebay. Not from cgb aka (overpriced shite) I found the exact product on ebay for half the price and also located the accelerator pedal which the rubber is not actually rubber its plastic again all on ebay. Removed old worn out rubbers sanded down the pedals and used some black primer to coat and then I will just lacquer once dry. WP_20160402_001.webp WP_20160402_002.webp WP_20160402_004.webp

I also purchased a larger aluminum pipe for my top rad hose as the one I have is a touch too small for the clamps and they are fully clamped but its just not tight enough.
Also got some new spark plugs as the ones I was using were not hot enough?? I have not even investigated different plugs and heats etc so I need to do reading up.

Also got some self securing squashable nut serts for the front of the seat mounts as the oe ones are slipping out of position and will become useless. Hopefully I can drill the hole a touch bigger and from square to round to allow these in. I may also put a blob of weld on the back once in place. No pictures sorry
