5 GT Turbo F4Rt - hopefully the correct decision

What temps were you seeing? I know mines a small engine and turbo but pushed flat out, i do monitor temps and rarely see more than 6-8 degrees above ambient on full chat. Have recently been reading up on meth injection though, mainly pre turbo stuff for increasing compressor efficiency as i dont seem to be suffering with inlet temp issues

Stav has just fitted meth on his Corrola and actually seems quite easy and cost effective to fit with pretty significant benefits.

I’ve been seeing 35c to 50c but as you know the sensor sits in the runner on top of the engine so likely lots of heat soak. This is only at like 7-8 psi and likely to be running more likely 20 when mapped. Also the rad and intercooler are close but the intercooler the size of mine should be good for 500hp +

I’m thinking I change the inlet first and move the IAT sensor and see what temps I see then. Can always add meth at a later date if needed.

I’ve sold my 200mm TTV flywheel and bought a new 184mm equivalent.

Also ordered a CG custom clutch apparently rated to 650lbft and running in many of the door slammers FWD drag cars, should be good enough for me but nothing is ever easy so let’s hope for a plug and play kit. (Not holding my breath 😂)

Helix clutch kit is still for sale if anyone is interested ?

A few new parts turned up today. I have to say I really love the TTV flywheels. I just need to provide a few measurements for the clutch company before they ship my kit to ensure all will work as it should. It should hopefully arrive the middle of next week.

Slightly proud, am sure the block is on a slight angle compared to the main cap so it can end up wonkey if you knock it in flush??

Got a block to sort out today or tomorrow so will get a straight edge on it to confirm, I could be getting it mixed up though.

Thanks mate, I must say the majority have said it sits slightly proud.

Clutch arrived today, I must say it looks superb. It’s a twin plate rated to 650lbft with a custom bearing. I provided the measurements so my fault if it doesn’t work correctly haha but I can accept that easier than others fucking up. I am hoping to make a start getting it all back together tomorrow if I can find the time.

Going to put it all back together tomorrow and over the weekend. Fingers crossed I’ve solved the leak but if it leaks again I’ll just have to live with it.

I’ve also found a cable company who can make me a custom clutch cable made super strong to hopefully stop things snapping or stretching. Sending off a spare cable so they can sort.

Well I’ve sealed up end cap as best I can, fitted yet another new OE seal and left it a little be proud as before. It’s just a tad further in than the pic below.

New clutch and flywheel on also and test fitted custom release bearing which looks to be spot on. I will fit box and whack engine back in tomorrow with any luck.

If it leaks after this then I’ll just live with it.

Today didn’t go as planned, turns out getting a twin plate lined up without the proper clutch alignment tool is a proper ass hole.

I’ve acquired an old input shaft from David Clark which should do the trick.
