5 GT Turbo F4Rt - hopefully the correct decision

Not sure where I got it from, some eBay store. Was about £70 if I recall, was pretty good on the old C1J set up. I think with a thinner fan I’ll give it a whirl.

A trip to Halfords and a box of roll pins later I managed to sort the driveshaft, just needed a slightly thinner pin which now fits perfectly. I also picked up a 4PK840 Gates belt which is spot on too.

Sorted pass side shaft too. Next stop is wiring followed by sorting coolant and boost hoses.

A few mock up shots of turbo, down pipe, screamer and wastegate. It looks really good and although the down pipe fits the turbo and clears the manifold perfectly it unfortunately just catches on rack plus the v-band section needs moving over slightly as it catches the gear selector.

Obviously really difficult for Matt to make off the car with different variations in engine mount height etc. The plan is now for me to get the car to Matt at some point soon so he can make the alterations on the car and I need an exhaust anyway so he may as well do that bit too. Here are some photos, I love a good photo. :-)

I’ve been to Pirtek twice @Adey and both times they’ve told me that they won’t do it so don’t bother anymore. I think it depends what bloke works on the day.

Let me know if you manage to get one made up. I quite like going over to Merlin though, nice drive over and today they had a bike event on so quite cool wandering around for 20 mins or so whilst I wait for hose to be sorted. You never know what you’re going to see when you go there.

Just a few parts of the wiring to sort;

1) Alternator wiring - just need to make sure we’ve got that wired correctly.

2) Oil temp sensor plug needs adding after extending wires.

3) Fan wiring needs some heat temp sleeving.

Does it not want a bolt in type IAT or a retaining clip / bracket to stop ot being blown out with manifold pressure.

Looking like a great install tho i like the external wastegate thats part of the turbine housing, very neat.
