5 GT Turbo EFI - GT Turbo

Quite possibly.

It went from the guy on the forum above (Jayy) to someone on eBay for a year (unknown) to Gordon who I've been in touch with who did the all white respray. Then to Aaron who I bought it off. So the Unknown owner could of done anything but as Gordon was the guy who applied for V5 and sent a VIN plate of some description to DVLA, he's the one I need to provide me with the VIN he says he still has somewhere.

Extract from DVLA site below.
"You may be able to keep its original registration number if you can prove the vehicle’s original VIN. If you can’t, you’ll have to apply for a replacement identity number."

So based on the above it must mean the original VIN was supplied to keep the current plate and its history.

Anyone know if there are ways of telling the difference between ph1 & ph2 shell ?

Mark mentioned holes where AEI would sit outside of the scuttle on ph1?

Wonder if a ph1 vin plate was liberated from a ph1 shell and attached to a ph2 shell?

Sounds highly likely. If the shell is orginally tungy then the chances are its ph2 so somebody has done a reshell or whatever. What does the vin number look like on the drivers side turret?

You cant legally change id's unless its a brand new shell. Check out the campus gtt threads on facebook

That's the thing Jon it's a non standard random VIN that has been given to the car from DVLA. Surely if the correct VIN plate had been given it would be the original GTT prefix but it reads SABY*********** (load of numbers) stamped on top of right strut (now under strut brace)

It's not an issue as such just curious how it came about. Will never ever be an OE example as my plan has always been to track it and learn to drive/get the best out of it.

No idea to be honest, Ive seen similar in the past. At a guess the vin is lurking about from the previous shell? Dvla might be able to give more info on the matter. I would not worry about it

I'm not worried as such as is a keeper long term anyway but it just seems that DVLAs website information is contradicting itself.

image.webp Afternoon all, the plot thickens.

See attached photo - this is the VIN that the previous owner who performed respray etc has sent me, according to him the same VIN he used to register the car. Is there anyway I can track this VIN to a registration number or any other information that might help ? Thoughts ? Also why is the weight showing as 000kg?

Evening all,

In need of a little advice. I've finished off the rest of the pipe work this evening apart from 1 x one way valve for vac pipe which should arrive Saturday. ALS is on the back burner for the time being so all piped up in standard format with no idle valve/brake servo valve wired in or in use.

I seem to be getting an intermittent issue where the car runs on 2/3 cylinders, this sounds rough but yesterday sounded fine. I am thinking some kind of ignition fault but not sure where to start besides the obvious.

1) Plugs - what rating and make plugs should i run ? Currently NGKB8EG01(i think)
2) Plug gap - currently around 6mm if I recall ?
3) Leads - new from Scoff ? Could be an issue do you think ?
4) Coil pack - again, new from Scoff so I would guess its fine ?
5) I've no clue what I am doing with Wari but idles at 900rpm, AFR's around mid 14s at idle but sounds rough as.

Yesterday, no issues at all. Today, dog rough, the only think I have touched tonight are a few boost and vac hoses. Confused !!!!

Anything I can try lads ? @Brigsy @DaveL485 @andybond @Fordy

I know it's going to Scoff in a few weeks but wanted to hand it over at least running on 4.

Mark, I am sorry but I cannot help. I do not have any experience of running efi on a c1j. Only the meg lump really.

It sounds like a breakdown of spark though to me. I would check plugs and see if one , or all are similar in colour.

Thanks for the reply Andy, I'll await one of the others gents to advise. I've mailed Scoff too but I know he doesn't pick his mails up until Monday.

Yeah something is up but today I've not made any amendments at all to anything ignition related. Literally piped up and intercooler hose and a vac hose, raised fuel pressure about 0.2 psi and that's it's.

Had a similar issue a few weeks ago which seemed to fix itself, perhaps plugs are the culprit.

Yesterday at 9pm running fine, today at 8pm, running rough.

Are you still running Chris's original leads ?

Wanted to test shifter tonight, feels good in first and second.
