Clio Clio dci bargain daily driver

Dci has only done mostly short journeys on evenings for last few weeks and not used it for a week. Went to start it up today to find the battery was flat, enough power to open the doors and crack the ign on but not enough to crank. I thought it was starting to crank slow on startup so maybe the battery is about shot. Stuck it on charge so will see how that goes, drag a few more weeks out of it hopefully as skint after xmas. Anyway no update is complete without a pic so here it is sat on the drive looking nice and clean as give it a good clean up last week.20180120_155741.webp

Small update

Battery seems to be holding out at the moment - seems a little bit slow cranking this week will see if the cold spell 'beast from the east" finishes it off.

The parada spec2 tyres were getting down on tread 4mm ish and a little worn on the inside/trackday wear so treated it to a part worn set of Michelin Pilot Sport3 in 195/50/15. I have seen tons of sets of these part worn for nothing on ebay - used as wets by some race series so a slight bit of pickup on them but 7mm of tread and 2016 date stamp - £100 of your finest sterling delivered to the door. Fitted and pickup worn off in a few road miles.

Great road tyre good dry/wet grip. Why have budget new when premium are available barely used.

Also had a nice find at the weekend. U pull it had a dci 100 breaking so grabbed the intercooler and associated pipework for £20. Dci 100 is quite rare so hard to find. I would have took the injectors but sadly already gone. The plan is come good weather get it bolted up and see if i can get a map on to suit. Stock 80/100 map would be fine - a little bit more hp without dropping mpg. Will see whats about once fitted - prob need a clutch too as im sure its almost down to the rivets but no slipping yet !?

Last total £1549

Ps3 x4 £100
Dci100 intercooler £20

New total £1669 - to be continued

Core ( no pun intended ) thats a baby intercooler!

Is it just a case of wacking it in and job done ? All associated outlets for pipework is there already ?

Size wise its better than no intercooler:cool: its roughly 100mm high - 70mm or thicker core and full width of the rad. It looks like it will pretty much go straight on apart from fabrication of a couple of brackets to hold the intercooler in place. On the dci 100 the intercooler brackets are bolted to the rad and cant be arsed changing rad unless 100% necessary.

Steady drive through France and Belgium, weather was great, 9deg and sunny.

1st stop Bitburger museum, €9 euro for the tour which included 5 drinks from memory. Could only sample the alcohol free Bitburger as driving, but still well worth a visit

After the tour was done, continued onto the autobahns, first thing you do on the unrestricted is vmaxx. Just shy of 110mph downhill (103mph) and an Opel work van flashes me out of the way:LOL:

Check out 1bar of fuel remaining since Middlesbrough fill up.

So much love for this cheeky little smoker, and brilliant spending time with you and Shez over the 3 days.

@andybond i think all young drivers get but raped these days, saying that my first 1.1 r5 used to cost 1200ish third party when i first insured it all them years ago.
