Long time no update ! still going strong - just fill up with diesel and drive
No more issues regarding limp mode, did have one day where it was going into fault but grabbed the pedal and wiggled it - been fine for weeks. Have a new accelerator pedal on standby to fit if needs be though.
Changed the oil and filter for Shell helix 5/40 Fully synth & genuine purflux oil filter as it had done 6k miles since last change
Tax was due 1st December, renewed for £30 for the year bargain motoring
Mot was due on 8th December - Handbrake lever was getting a little bit high/slightly longer pedal - quick half an hr adjusting the shoes and the handbrake is back to 3 clicks/awesome brake pedal - Passed mot no issues - brakes are superb was testers comment. Advisories for slight cracking on track control arm bushes but nothing to worry about - tester said do them in summer if they need doing
Give it a good clean today - no before pics but wheels were black with brake dust as not been washed for 2 month or so as mega busy with the house etc - got a good couple of hours on it today for winter protection. Washed with 2 bucket method - clayed the tar off sills etc - Polish with Autoglym SRP to fill some swirls/remove minor scratches (the joys of daily driving
) Finished off with 2x coats of Collinite 476s. Wheels had the same polish/2 coats of wax, even boshed some tyre gel on. Trims could do with a coat of gtechniq but none in stock so will need to wait a while longer.

Small update
Some beadage from the other night
Bought a blanking plate for the audio stalk on the steering column £3 from Renault. Seen it fitted and found the part number a while back, must be off a poverty spec clio (i thought this was the most poverty spec being the extreme model ) i have an aftermarket alpine headunit and the stalk has never worked, you can buy a lead for about £40 to connect it but sod that and the stalk is pretty crap anyway so got it gone. Ten mins job done.

In other news @Sheryl_O Broke the courtesy light switch on the passenger side door lastnight causing the central locking to go on the piss but that was fixed in 5 mins with a trip to the scrappy

Small update
Done plenty of miles running about in the clio over the last 2 weeks - mostly to industrial estates, builders merchants etc for bits for the garage and the car has been covered in mud and general road dirt due to this. I give it a clean up yesterday, when i noticed a fecking screw in the n/s rear tyre which i gather i have picked up at one of the yards. As this tyre already has a nail in the inner part of the tread and with this on the outside which most places will not repair i have had to bite the bullet and order another parada spec2 at £41. The plan was to run these off and fit a full set of ad08s but looks like i will be getting a few more miles out of them ! On the plus side the tyre is not going down so not on the spare yet.

One thing that has annoyed me on the clio since buying it is the lack of external temperature display. I have searched for any info about retro fitting it and basically drawn a blank. From little snippets of info that i have found on the net it looks to be standard on the display and the sensor in the n/s mirror gives the reading if you have electric mirrors. No sensor/no display on the gauge so this might be do able.
I went down the scrapyard and grabbed a door loom from a higher spec model albeit older 03 reg. Stripped the door down to check for wiring/fit new loom and the pins in the R4 connector are totally different configuration
and by feeling the pins on the car loom there doesn't appear to be many fitted so back together it went. So after a bit of digging on the net i found the Renault wiring diagrams and it seems to be very easy - from what i gather it is a basic 2 wire connection from the clock straight to the sensor so might just be able to add my own wiring if needs be. Looks like the dash top needs to come off to remove the clock typically but at least it looks like the uch does not need re-configuring so might be an easy upgrade. A job to do in the near future

Totally hit the nail on the head there mate
its easy to tinker with and parts are available for less than beer money, makes for cheap fun motoring.I have had mad ideas about dropping a newer version 1.5dci lump in with 6 speed box 110hp (im sure i have seen 140hp models possibly nissan ?) however in reality i will happily settle for a new clutch and some dci 100 parts
In other news had my new Yoko parada spec2 fitted on the rear today. Typically my mate in the garage said the old one could possibly be repaired.

Long time no update ! Clio has done a canny few miles this month been all over the place. Steady mixed driving results in 60-65mpg all the time.
Had to do some repairs recently. The aux belt was starting to squeal like feck when cold and starting to chirp all the time. I had a feeling the clutch pulley was not very good when i fitted the 2nd hand alternator early last year so decided to bite the bullet and change it. Last time i tried to get a pulley euro/gsf kept supplying the wrong one as per previous posts. I searched for oem part number on the diaologys and they only suggest full alternator replacement for the mitsubishi unit.
With a bit of digging i found a genuine pulley on ebay listed for kangoo/megane dci which visually looked the same. With more digging i found the old alternator pulley off the original alternator and found the part number which matched. So bought that off ebay and the splined tool for removing the pulley, as last time i borrowed the tool and nearly bust it. Impact driver is a must for removing these pulleys, few ugga duggas and it flys off. The old clutch pulley was gritty and not the best to be honest. Fitted new pulley & aux belt - used the tool i made last year to tension the aux belt, squeal free for the first 50 miles then had to re tension, manual tension is a really crap design on a 5pk belt. Engine sounds quieter so not a bad job for approx 1 hours work.

Small update
Stripped a clio dci that was going to the weigh in yard due to diesel pump fail which has yielded a load of useful spares for the price o a small drink as i know the lad well. I pulled a load of wiring out to revisit fitting the external temperature gauge. To recap its basically 2 wires from the clock to the sensor in the passenger side mirror no wiring through the uch etc. The breaker clio had external temp so pulled the door loom out - typically was different plug again as per last time no idea why - and for some reason my a pillar connector does not have the wiring fitted (although the wires are on the clock !? ) In the end i added 2 wires to my current loom which resulted in 2 hours of pain and stripping the dash down

Fitted silver dynamic dash trims - original extreme ones were scratched to feck sadly so have lost the orange barcode on the dash - no pics but looks tidy
Fitted the plastic undertray off the breaker - i have a very minor oil leak off the crank seal (5 pence sized drip after 2 days standing) fitted this to save pebbledashing the block paved drive - will change crank seal in summer
Looking for the oil drain plug cap - no part number on diaologys - i gather it must come with full undertray so sniffing about for 2nd hand
Also bought a new low entry 2ton jack - £100 off ebay new as my old hobby jack is about knackered after 10+ years use. Its basically the same as the machine mart low entry jack - but better as this has metal wheels and the machine mart effort has nylon wheels - this one also £40 cheaper goes straight under the clio which is pretty low so no more messing about with driving onto blocks of wood. Big plate so nice and solid when jacking up no chance of it slipping on the chassis rail. Only downside is its a big heavy lump that must weigh at least 80kg so not the kind of thing you want to be humping into the back of cars often. 
I think a wheel bearing is on its way on the front - got a hub off the breaker in stock to fit so its all good. To be continued

I have had about 10jacks and most the light alloy ones / cheaper options died after......well using quite a lot
I have a higher end big sealey one the last few years and is a beast but would need you to be lifting in and out of the boot far from light

Changed the drivers side hub on the dci yesterday as the bearing was noisy/had play. This killed 2 birds with one stone as somebody had fucked the threads holding the caliper on and retapped with some coarse imperial thread. They torqued up fine but still a bit of a shite job so binned the hub for good used 2nd hand off the breaker..
Typically as soon as i used the balljoint splitter the rubber split on the trackrod end so had to shoot to euro to get a new one. Also discovered another random bolt used to pinch the balljoint together so used the proper bolt which i had in stock off the breaker clio. Then the fecking abs sensor was incorrect as the hub was off an 02 reg clio so had to smash that out, i was expecting to have to buy a new sensor but got the original out ok luckily. A bit of a fuck on considering it should have been a half hour job.
Also replaced strut top mount on the drivers side as mine had semi collapsed causing a 6mm gap at the top. Used good 2nd hand from stock. Normal service resumed handling is better again just needs the geo doing
