Another Gordini!

So after some time... split with my now ex wife, new job, and new missus I was just starting to be content with life. Thoughts of a new project car in 2025... I was tempted to Meg a wind, or an rs, or even the gordini tce I had as my daily driver. (My gordini rs Meg project I had to get rid of in separating from my wife, gutted wasn't the word but it's gone to a good home)
Had someone drive into my tce in the summer, just cosmetic damage but then it was a cat n write off, but I cleaned it up and kept on going still not knowing if I would Meg it or another car in the future.
Then last Tuesday, I made a boo boo and parked my tce into the back of a focus.
Looking at the damage I thought it was only light. First chance I got I tried to pull out the crash bar with a ratchet strap, nope wouldn't budge and so it's fate was decided.
I needed another car ASAP, looked online and 40 mins drive from me there was a Twingo rs Gordini, reasonably low miles, but right on the edge of my budget.
I had to have it, so now I'm the proud owner of no 179

So after a very small test drive I drove it home, tyres are noisiest tyres I've ever heard, somethings off with the steering, and brakes are pants.
It's mot was due at the end of the month, and with no time for me to look over the car I booked it in expecting it to fail on bits and bobs for me to give repairs on.. it passed! I was surprised to say the least.
So now I've got to start making improvements to it and get to the bottom of the steering issue (hoping it's not pas motor)
So first "mod" was done today, previous owner had added green stripes to the gordini stripes, I took these off as soon as I could.

Yellowstuff pads are on order, not sure if I should order new discs though. I probably won't this side of Xmas.

The wheels are ugly as, but I have two sets of these, one set diamond cut and the other std rs set, but being black are ugly.
I'm hoping I can get some white turinis...
Until I get some wheels I won't bother changing the ultra loud hankooks, I will just turn the radio up!

So my steering issue... steering seems a little stiff, especially around roundabouts, as I turn right (or left depending) the steering doesn't try to centralise, I can let go and the car will just keep going the direction I started to turn in. I'm hoping it's something easy like wheel alignment but I have a feeling it's pas related.
Any ideas?

Pagid std road pads are let's just say "lacking" so 1st real upgrade to the car had to be the brakes, so brembo hc discs and ebc yellowstuff pads went on

So new tyres on, 205 45 16 continentals. 90 mins for kwik fit to fit 4 tyres and do wheel alignment was a joke, especially when they wanted 70 quid for the tracking!
But the handling and comfort has massively improved. It's so much nicer to use as a daily driver compared to having the 17s on

Do I keep this gordini standard or do I 200 swap it? It definitely needs a bit more poke.
But investing in tuning the 1.6 is fruitless for the marginal power gains.

200 swap it, originality is overrated and would only be a thing in 20 years for it. enjoy it now
