Rather than welding up the holes in that critical part of the wheel centre, small heat exposure as it may be, liquid metal as a filler might be better IMHO ...

Martin

Yeah I did consider that but depending on time, I'm going to get the center lip welded all the way round so I can put a smooth rounded edge on to it. Given how localised the heat from TIG welding is, Ill just blob a spot in them.

Pictures are to follow but the way things are standing at the momet, the car is very nearly done. It now has its Trophy wing and splitter fitted. The seats and steering wheel have been slotted in with the harnesses' on their way. New wheels and tyres thanks to Mr Patchall. After a few hours work the rear silencer had a re polished and it now stands out a little bit more than most. I've also opted to fit the OEM Ph1 rear lights over my current Ph2's. I should hopefully be picking them up from Reno shortly.

Now its just a case of getting it 4 wheel aligned aswell as tax and testing it. The car hasn't been run for a while so fingers crossed it will be ok for the later.

Has been abit of a funny week this week and a bizzy one at that. After the brilliant trip around oxfordshire last weekend the gearbox showed the first signs of miss behaving. By the end of the day it was well and trully buggered. Thanks to Scott (SG Motorsport) by tuesday I had found a replacement box.
Being a plumber and having to travel 2 1/2 hours to and from london each day I don't have the most ammount of time to work on the car so bit by bit I took what wasnt needed off the car wednesday ie front splitter, engine covers etc.
Thursday evening was the long drive to Scotts to pick up the replacement box. After making Scott miss his dinner :approve: and 7 hours of driving since I left work I finaly got home.....then the big day....friday.
After a very noisy drive to the workshop, by 8 oclock last night the car was on axle stands and the road to recovery. It all went suprisingly smoothly and by 10 oclock and alot of beer and pizza later, the old one was on out on the floor. By 12 the new one was in, topped up with new fluid and fitted with a new reverse sensor. We were ready for a test drive. Thats when we ran in to a tiny problem. In our haste to get the old one out we forgot to disconnect the crank/flywheel sensor . When we realised, we instantly removed it but we reckon the damage had already been done. So at 1 oclock this morning the car wasn't going anywhere.
Today now is a case of getting a new sensor and installing all the new interior for tomorrow.....bizzy bizzy then!

Well what a cufuffle this weekend has been!!! This weekend really ended on a high for me which makes a nice change. After finally bleeding the clutch the car made it to Gaydon for the RS meet......all be it a little late . The 'box Scott supplied me with earlier in the week turned out to be a peach and was a joy to use. On the way home from the Cotswolds I decided to just take it steady and enjoy the car while it was running well for a change. For the first time in ages it was awsome!!! The roads were great, the sun was out and I really couldn't fault it.

I should point out that its only down to a few people that I managed to end the weekend on a high. First off Scott for supplying the box and fluid at such short notice, Fred for being such a life saver regarding my trigger sensor and Shaun for listening to me moan on and on and on and then pointing me in the right direction on more than one occasion (makes a change as his road directions are usually shit) lol. Cheers lads :approve:

Next week.....................INTERIOR!!!!!!!!

Pleased you managed to get to enjoy your vee for once. I admit I was worried when I sold you the coil that something would go wrong on your drive home! You had me in stitches with your quick pitstop in that layby! I have never seen anyone especially the driver jump out with a huge wheel nut wrench, tighten both rears and jump back in! I wish my camera wasnt full at the time otherwise the pic would have been a classic! The funniest thing I have ever seen! Glad you made it to Gaydon rounded off a great day out to have you along for the drive:) :race:

The cars running like a bloody dream Fred!!!!.....................must be the super duper, full race, gold plated flywheel sensor. ;) Ive ordered a new genuine one fella so ill pop it up to you soon mate.

The interior is now fitted and pics will be up tomorrow.

The turd has been polished!!!!!!!!!........................................................................................ALOT! :race:
