Cant polish a turd???....yeah what ever!

Will post some pics maybe later. Its in primer so it looks a bit like Lateboys at the minute though. :sarcasm:

Just a little update. I'm having a new D panel made completly from ally this week. Should mean the front ends a little more sturdy and a better fixing for the Trophy splitter. I'm going to need a new rad cowling too so might get this formed in thinner gage ally aswell. should look nice all polished up!!! lol

Think its called the D panel James. The one that buts up to the bottom of the bumper and is usually the what scrapes etc.

The car is now completly reassembled with rear bumper modified, OMG fully polished, resprayed front end, side pods back to silver, cleaned up the trophy splitter and sorted a few other little things. Just waiting for the labour intensive wheels, and the interior make over.......slowly getting there!

No this is the same ol' vee Tim. Though this year, I'm going to treat it as more of an immaculate track day car/weekend toy. I do really want a roll cage but I cant if I fit the baulkhead i bought a few months back.....which is must. The engine will be fitted with full equal length de-cated manifolds after the summer so it'll be pretty damn noisy even with the active set up....and thats with out the induction set up barking away too. lol

If I told you one of the things i want to do, yourself, Mike T, Maxv6 and the other hardcore tuners would probably have my guts for gatters. lol...........

..........Weber IDL's ;)

I haven't really been able to work much on the car recently due to it being in the body shop but this week I've started to refurb the wheels myself and tidy a few other bits up. As a few of you know, I'm fitting a set of light weight split rims so its not just a case of a quick rub down, prime and spray. They need taking apart, repolishing, resealing and in my case re welding in places....just for looks though. Some may say I'm being a bit picky with what I'm doing to them but I just want them to be perfect.

Bassically the main aim today was to remove these lugs which usually hold on a center cap. Im not fitting center caps as 1, they are very hard to find and 2, they look crap.

So using a dremel and a Die Grinder I started to remove it.

And a little more removed....

Then a little bit of more finishing off...

So it went from this....

To this.....

Next step is to weld the little holes up and smooth over. Im also going to try and get rid of the small lip around the edge of the center.

Should have really used a mask I suppose. Its not half as bad as porting cast cylinder heads though lol

I sure hope they turn out ok. If they don't they won't be fitted regardless of how much time Ive spent on them.

Rather than welding up the holes in that critical part of the wheel centre, small heat exposure as it may be, liquid metal as a filler might be better IMHO ...
