Clio Big Steve's RB Clio 182 Cup Restoration

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated
Oh, watch your pistons dont fall apart up towards 8k, keep it to the low 7's as I believe they have a habit of being pretty delicate above that?
Rev limit is just under 7k I believe, you could have them mapped for more back in the day
It is mapped, it has 197 cams hence why I mentioned it :)

Just to remind what the Engine's had done to it
  • Cylinder honing
  • Clio 197 Pistons
  • Clio 197 Cams
  • Supertech Valves
  • Mild head porting with 3 angle valve seats
  • Block decked
  • Head skimmed "a fair whack"
  • New main and big end bearings
  • Metal idler pulleys
  • Keyed Crank Pulley

Are the 197 Piston's stronger in any-way than the 182 Pistons?? (BTW I'm not good at thrashing an NA engine too much, and typically change as soon as the OE gearshift indicator light flashes) I'm guessing that Scoff didn't re-program the gearshift indicator light...? 🤔

Collected the Clio 182 Cup from the most excellent @detailR today and totally blown away with what he has achieved... let’s let the pictures do the talking..

Had a fabulous drive home with @Millie_Bee driving the Clio whilst I drove my Raider. We found a quiet bit of road and managed to see how they match up against one another.. there’s hardly any difference!!!

Now the paintwork has been PROPERLY gone over, you can see that this car WAS originally supplied with the Gordini Stripes which I’m delighted about, so I’m going to fit them back on soon!!

Currently getting a new gearbox rebuilt for the car, and have decided to go all out and get a Quaife differential fitted, so that’s going to be the next big job! ⚙️ But there’s plenty of little jobs to do in the mean time, including fitting new exhaust hangers at the back, and some reproduction “Cup” badges onto the B-Pillars.

Thanks for reading 🥓

Absolutely f@@king amazing!! Rich is such a decent bloke and his work is consistently on point. He let me spend the day with him while he detailed the Liquid Yellow 200 EDC just to get an idea of what detailing is all about.... Stunning 😍

Yeah we were chatting about the work he did on yours and @Sheryl_O ’s Yello Meggy also whilst we collected the car.

Conscientious to a tee! 👌🏻

I never saw the attraction... but now, I’m a total convert!! I often look at the corner of yours in my Sangliers commemorative plate and have to think hard about that one you owned coming over to France with us for that Jolly!!
I actually you took a photo of my old RB when it was parked up in line. I've been tentatively looking at 172 Cups as I think they'll be a future classic
